Remarks

The management is good but needs some more improvement. The overall rating will be a 3 out of 5.

Entrance Preview

I joined the college through LET Examination ranking 512. This college is the nearest CUSAT affiliated college. I like Electrical and Electronics course very much. I have a diploma also in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The curriculum is very vast and subject oriented but many subjects are based on mathematics which I didn't find very attractive. The curriculum should give more importance to practical know how and laboratories. The technologies described in the curriculum is very old, that is about 50 year old technologies are included in the curriculum in which most of them are outdated. The curriculum should be updated every year with the latest technologies and techniques. Also it is essential to eliminate outdated technologies that are no longer in use for the sake of reducing students work load.

Internships Opportunities

Some organisations provided internship but not all the needy students got the benefit. In this case also cast and religion reservation was considered not the merit. This is somewhat disappointing.

Placement Experience

3.5

The placement cell managed to bring certain companies for campus recruitment but as far as an Electrical and Electronics student is concerned the companies that participated in the placement program that offers a core job in the particular field was a very few most of the were software companies which requires B.Tech degree only, not any technical knowledge about the particular stream.

College Events

4

Our college is proud for our Tech Fest called "Lumiere". The techno cultural fest is dazzling and the whole college unites for this fest irrespective of political parties or departments. The "Lumiere" organizes a wide range of programs including technical exhibitions stage programs art competitions etc. I would say " Lumiere " is the best part of our college.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Our college has government financing seats and management seats. I was lucky enough to get a government financing seat. The fee was 35 K annually. The management seat students has to pay 65 K annually. It in a nice fee structure as compared to self financing colleges.

Fees and Financial Aid

As far as I remember the college directly does not provide a scholarship but, many companies and organisations such as TEQUIP provide scholarship and funding for projects. The college management should care more about spending the funded money wisely.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life was enjoyable, gender ratio varies from department to department. Extra curricular activities was nice, the include sports competitions art competitions etc. The labs were nice but it needs to be updated to the new level. The experiments conducting are dated back to 90's. Students should get an opportunity to get their hand on latest model machines and equipment.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The college do not have it's own hostel but both men's hostels and women's hostels are available in the territory of the college. The food is not as good as the homely food but it's not that bad either. The travel from hostel to college is also convenient. Students can have a weekend bus pass for 1 K.

Alumni/Alumna

The senior students were very helpful and always having a helping mentality. The entire college were ragging free. The alumni association occasionally conduct meeting also. The seniors were helpful in studies and labs also.

Exam Structure

The exam structures were good. The intervals between exams were sufficient enough. The infrastructure for the exam was good. They were okay but need a little more attention. Not all the equipment in the labs were functioning especially in the electronics lab, the CROs etc.

Faculty

2.5

Most of the faculties were very interested to teach their particular courses but there are certain exceptions. Some of the faculties, those who got the teaching job by cast reservation were unfit for the job. The knowledge and interest in teaching were poor for those faculties who managed to enter the teaching profession by cast reservation not by merit. At least in teaching profession the cast reservation should be thrown off. Employment should be strictly based on merit.

Placement Experience:

The placement cell of the college is very active. You can get internships starting 2nd year and placements starting 3rd year. About 75% of people get placed. Many MNCs like Texas Instruments are consistent hirers. The highest package of 2025 for my course is 1 crpa. The average is about 7 lpa. A student can get 5,6 offers. I plan on higher studies abroad because I want to learn more in-depth about the course.

Placements are really good. Since college is related to ISRO maximum students with cgpa above than 7 are elligible for ISRO interviews and are selected based on their performance. Apart from ISRO many campanies like Texas Instruments, UTS, Mercedez , also come here for recruuitment. Many also opt for M.tech and MBA after graduation

Students are eligible for placement from the 7th semester and internship from 3rd semester. You can apply for internship on your own right from first semester but college gives aid from 3rd semester. The major recruiter is ISRO which offers 40-45 jobs for aerospace engineering. Also other companies like CDac Airbus Boeing and DRDO and HAL visit for recruitment. Nearly 85-90% students get placed while some opt for Higher education and research too. My primary goal is to get into ISRO also I will be preparing for gate examination to complete my IIT dream.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was never interested in engineering. I passed KEAM entrance exam. So my parents forced me to become an engineer. Since I was interested, I thought food technology might be a good branch in engineering. So I got admission in KUFOS through allotment. The course is actually good . In the 1st year, you study basic engineering, 2nd year onwards food related courses are taught. If you are a student who only have the intention to study you will find this college easy to adjust. They provide all facilities to study. There is no particular frequency for a semester. Even though academic calender is there for each batch it is not followed properly. In this college the course may last upto 4.5 years. Due to this reason the students ask the management to cut shot semester breaks so that they won't loose 1 year.

I only have postive thoughts about that campus. The campus helped me to remove my pre-occupations, inhibitions, fear etc. It gave a lot of memorable moments, large number of friends. The most special thing about the college is those memorable friendships with the faculties whos understand students very well.
