Remarks

The college is very good, Like I said earlier you will Learn, Live and enjoy. The chances are you'll get placed or end up with a good GATE/CAT/GRE score. And at Last you'll remember NIT Raipur and its people for lifetime.

Entrance Preview

I took AIEEE for entering NIT Raipur, I scored 28668 AIR. I opted NIT Raipur since it was my home town but not only that, NIT Raipur is bigger than that,it has good academics and it has produced great Alumni who are successful in their fields.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is good, it gets updated with the current technology and there is a good focus on practical work. The mechanical branch of the institute is the best, at par with the best NITs of the country. The course curriculum is designed in such a way that it gets easy getting the placements in the TOP MNCs.

Internships Opportunities

The college itself doesn't provide internship but yes it gives you a period or vacation for pursuing internship in other companies or IITs/NITs. This internship or vocational training is compulsory and is included in the curriculum, so one must go for internship in other companies/college or he must attend vocational course for industry exposure.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placement of the institute is very good. Around 30-40 companies visit campus every year for campus recruitment. The placement percentage is also very good, around 70-80%. Most companies are software based which includes OFSS, HP, Polaris, Infosys, cognizant which are mass recruiters. Also there are some companies which offer high package around 10 LPA like YODLEE, PSUs also visit which offers above 10 LPA like coal India. So the average package is 4-5 LPA.

College Events

4.5

There's almost every time some event is going on in the college which is one of the best and interesting thing of the college. There's technical, cultural and literary committee for this in the college and they organize fun and educational events. For ex. ECLECTICA is the annual cultural fest of NIT Raipur which is very big and students from various colleges from CG and other states come to participate in this. Also there's tech fest AAVARTAN which is organised every year in which Robotics, coding and various events are included.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, the scholarship is definitely provided. Actually for SC/ST/OBC candidates government gives scholarship by which they are almost free of paying any tuition fees. Also there's a departmental scholarship provided to scholarly students. And there's OPJEMS scholarship in which first they take online exam and then interview and based on that they give scholarship of around 80000 INR.

Campus Life

4

Campus life anywhere is always good Gender ratio is good around 6:4, while branches like mechanical, mining, metallurgy is male dominant branch. Being an institute of national importance students from all over the country takes admission here, so we can find peoples of various culture here we have various cultural, technical and sports fests being organised regularly.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Being a day scholar, i didn't reside at hostel, but yes, I frequently visited the hostel to meet friends and I also spent few nights at hostel. Hostel life is awesome. During my 3rd year only new Boys hostel was inaugurated which is very good. The thing about staying in hostel is you make friends for life. you interact with people a lot. Also food is above average in normal days, hygienic. On Sundays we get special meals which is very delicious.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network of the college is very good. The keep on organizing various various alumni meet and functions which involves interacting with senior colleagues. There is already a group: "Alumni Association of GEC-NIT Raipur" which looks into it and make sure juniors are benefited from this.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is also very good. Its not hectic , yes but it makes sure student is not left idle so it continues to take tests on frequent basis. We have 2 CTs(Class Test) per semester, some assignments, Lab(practicals) test and then final End Sem Exam. There's appropriate weightage to all these and end result is calculated based on overall tests and exams.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty of the college is good, but then again there are some faculties who are top class, well qualified and very interested in teaching but there are always some who are uninterested and their knowledge is questionable still, you will enjoy learning from faculties here.

Placement Experience:

Final year students are eligible to appear for campus placements which starts towards the end of their 7th semester. Companies that visited for Civil Engineering: L&T, Adani, Stratview Research, PlanetSpark and several local firms. The highest packages were offered by Adani (approx 7 LPA) and L&T (6-7 LPA). Around 5-7 students received placement offers from the mentioned companies. It is important to note that a lot many students did not sit for campus placements as they had different career aspirations (government jobs, higher education, business ventures etc.) My plans were to prepare for upcoming competitive government exams as well as try my hand at something different and creative

1. Students from seventt semester and onwards are eligible for the campus placements. 2. There are ample numbers of comapnies visited in our college like schneider electric, bpcl, bhel, bhel, reliance, catterpillar, eil, and so on. As per the last year data around 130 comapnies made in to our campus and they offered around 800 plus offers to various studenst of different departments. 3. The highets package offered this year is 60 lakhs that is offered by DE Shaw and average package is something around 11 laks per annum 4. Taking considerations of students of all departments, almost 70 percent students get placed. 5. Presently my plan after getting degree is to get into a job.

Microtex, HCL, Wipro and many other IT companies gives us research projects and also their work as well. So, we basically have indirectly worked for them and the ones they feel can add more to their organization comes with a clear mind and take us with a package that we expect them to. So, placements are purely on performance as those who perform well are given best of placements.
