Remarks

This is one of the best colleges of Delhi University in South campus and NIRF rankings of the college in the year 2020 is 14. The infrastructure is excellent, all the facilities from playing ground to the library are available. The placement cell itself has started given chances to first-year students to be a part of it. All the teachers are highly qualified and their teaching style is easy to understand as of now in online mode. Classes are being conducted in MS TEAMS presently. This year admission process was completely online and the user interface was very simple and easy to go through, from document verification to fee payment and to allotment of college credentials, everything was online which reduced all the hassle in this pandemic time. I selected this college because of its reputation, closeness to the place I live, easy access, qualified faculty, miscellaneous opportunities, a wide range of cultural and sports activities, most importantly my interest in pure sciences.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I had a non-medical stream in class XII and was highly interested in chemistry and loved the way chemistry plays an important role in our daily lives, because of my interest in physical and organic chemistry I chose BSc Chemistry Hons. In my course, there are about 70 students divided into 2 batches and there are 6 teachers, the ratio is excellent. The faculty is highly qualified and most of them are PhD holders from institutes like IIT Delhi. The term exams are conducted timely every year except 2020, as in 2020 due to pandemic exams were late and conducted in an online way except for final year students whose exams will be conducted in college itself. The exams are fairly easy to learn if you have prepared and are extremely hard if you have not prepared.

Placement Experience

I am a first-year student who has been offered an opportunity to become part of the placement cell in the first year itself which is a big thing in itself. In the session 2019-20 cell managed to secure 150+ placements in the department of science commerce and arts. Top companies like Deloitte, PWC UK, United airlines, Boston consultants, Bank of America, Zomato, ABP network and etc. Average package stood 5.03 LPA and highest package stood 15 LPA offered by Edukey. In this session over 100 companies offered placement opportunities among them 22 companies carried outplacement in the campus and others in their offices. I am a defence aspirant and will try for CDS and AFCAT after my graduation.

Fees and Financial Aid

Being a central college the fees is very much affordable to everybody and for the year 2020, the fees for first-year students was only 14805. There are 2 hostels in the college separate for girls and boys and the monthly fees of the hostels are around 5000 rupees which are also bearable. A UG degree can be completed under 50k if you are not in the college hostel. The fee concession is given to the following categories: 1. PWD: After providing disability certificate from the competent authority the person is exempted to pay all the fees except admission fees and subscription to Students union and identity card. They are also exempted to pay hostel fees except for refundable caution fees and mess fees. 2. The name of the annual feast of the college is NEXUS it is always celebrated in the month of March and is a 3-day long fest. It is a popular college festival that is sponsored by top brands like bisleri and reliance jio. It is an extravagant music festival along which various competitions like Pictionary, sports, singing and dance competition are organised. From course books to journals and to novels everything is available in the library of the college. When we talk about sports facilities in Delhi university it is one of the best colleges to have them and most famous for dance and cricket. There are various societies in college like verve-western dance society, conquistador - quiz society alaap - Indian music society, Principia - physics society and many more.
