Remarks
Faculties are great and they complete the syllabus positively. Specifically, the libraries(Science & Arts) of Bethune College are outstanding. No need for private tuition. There are no bad aspects except for the attendance problem. All have to attend every class every day. People from distance should take a pg/hostel to continue. The first reason for choosing this college is their "faculties" and secondly the recognition. It's one of the top colleges in Calcutta. Thirdly, there is no political ambiance. And lastly, the beautiful campus of Bethune College attracted me a lot. The admission process is conducted very smoothly completely based on merit. Check their websites regularly to get a notice about. I had read many question-answers from Quota and seen the reviews from Collegedunia and other websites too. I had done my ug (B.Sc in Psychology with two general subjects, botany, and zoology) course from here. They only offer Industrial Psychology for post-graduation courses.
Course Curriculum Overview
I was from Pure Science Background in +2 level but I was interested in mental health and the human psyche. I choose this course because of my interest in Psychology. Also, there are really many scopes in different paths in the future. You can choose industrial oriented works, hospital job, even you can open your own clinical setup after getting RCI licensed in Clinical and counseling psychology. There are 5 faculties now from Industrial Background and 34 students generally 17 from B.A and 17 from B.Sc. Don't worry about the name of the degree "B. A and B.Sc". Those who choose arts subjects as their general subjects got B.A and who choose the science subjects as their general subjects got the degree "B.Sc". 4 faculties out of 5 have completed PhDs and they all are knowledgeable. They all are from Industrial Background and they offer Industrial and Organisation Psychology as "Post Graduation" Course. They take mid-terms exams too. Every class and exams are conducted regularly and timely.
Internships Opportunities
I don't know about every department. But Psychology Department didn't offer any internship at the ug level but they offer it at pg level. If you want to do an internship under other companies or hospitals you can do it. The faculties are very supportive in nature. They will help you to continue your internship program and to manage the classes too.
Placement Experience
From the 5th semester, students will be eligible for campus placement. Many recognized companies like TCS, WIPRO, etc. visited and offered a job with a healthy salary after the selection process. Maximum percentages of students from Bethune College are getting placements in recognized companies. I also got selected in TCS. But my plan was to continue my post graduation degree, so I left the job opportunity. My future plan is to complete my pg degree in clinical psychology and after that, I want to complete my MPhil.
Fees and Financial Aid
As this is a government college, there are very low fees for any course and the college itself offers many types of scholarships. Please check the official websites of Bethune to know in detail. I didn't apply for any scholarship though. There are many merit-based scholarships too. During the third year, many recognized companies like TCS, Wipro, etc offer job opportunities through college campus career counseling programme. I got selected in TCS but I didn't continue the job due to my further studies. They offered me a healthy amount.
