Remarks

The college management hears to the problems of the students and works for the welfare of its students. Personally, being the first batch we had faced many problems and the college management listened to us and acted on it.

Entrance Preview

I am one among first batch students of IIIT Bhubaneswar. During my time one had to appear for OJEE and meritious students got the chance to get admission in this college. Presently, IIIT Bhubaneswar uses the JEE main score for admission process. The brand name of IIIT was the main reason for opting this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is made such that the students are equipped with adequate technical education and armed with required technology to excel in their future work-field. Time to time technical workshops are conducted by the college so that the students know and learn the new technologies.

Internships Opportunities

The first batch students had created internship opportunities by their own presently the college provides internship to the students, but I don't know the amount of stipend a student receives. But companies like IBM, Capgemini provide the internship.

Placement Experience

4

Big companies like TCS, Infosys, IBM, Capgemini, Samsung, ITC Infotech conduct recruitment drives. The packages range between 3.2lakhs to 12lakhs per annum. The college also conducts pre-placement training for the overall improvement of the students and make them familiar with various placement drives.

College Events

4.5

Various events are conducted by the college and the students during an academic year. The events get a kick-start with 'Nebulae' for the first batch students. It is followed by various sports events, technical fests, cultural functions and much more. These events help in all round development of an individual.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is expensive in compare to the fees of government-run colleges. But it is comparable to the fees of IIIT Hyderabad. So the fees structure of IIIT Bhubaneswar is same as all the private deemed IIITs of India. The details of the fee structure are provided in the college website.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships are given top three performers of a branch on the end of the academic year. As such there is no loan facilities provided by the college.

Campus Life

3.5

The batch of 2013 had a gender ratio of 2:1 in favour of boys. The college conducts various technical workshops such as robotics workshop and events, PSpice workshop and much more technological workshops. The college conducts various inter-college and intra-college sports competition. It also holds inter-college cultural events comprising of debates, face-painting, rangoli, etc.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

There are separate hostels for boys and girls with lift facilities. The boy's hostel is a ten floors building with three sharing rooms. The college provides a bed, table, chair and cupboard for every hostel dwellers. The college has also appointed a doctor for any health issues of students.

Alumni/Alumna

The first batch of the college passed out on 2013. So, the alumni network is not strong enough now. But alumni network is growing slowly with many alumni are in reputed organisations or pursuing higher studies in reputed universities.

Exam Structure

The college got the deemed university status in the year 2014. So the syllabus, pattern, and structure of the exam are decided by the college authority. Adequate time gap is given between two successive exams. Before lab exams, the lab remains open for the students to practice the lab experiments.

Admission

I had got a good rank in OJEE then. But now any student seeking to get admission in IIIT Bhubaneswar needs to crack JEE main. I got admission by attending OJEE counselling. But now the Institute takes admission directly by shortlisting the JEE main ranks of the registered students.

Faculty

4.5

The faculties of the college are highly qualified with many being alumni of reputed IITs, IIITs, BITs, and NITs. They are highly motivated for the development of a student's academic career. They are friendly with the students and are not reluctant to give pieces of advice related to academic or personal problems.

Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University - [SOA], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Jan 9, 2026(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.

Gandhi Engineering College (GEC Autonomous), Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Dec 22, 2025(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.
