Remarks

As my title is 4 years of reincarnation after 4 years you will be a different person all together and the reason being some good and some bad management policy of the college. Good thing about IIIT BBSR is they are not that harsh on students for the mistakes they commit they always provide a second chance even faculties are always ready to help. Staff behavior towards student totally depends how you treat them. Bad policy is the fine they charge everyone for mistakes committed by few and no transparency is maintained how money is managed because facilities provided by the institute are very less when you look at the fee structure.

Entrance Preview

Well when i appeared my exam back in 2011 in Odisha the entrance name was OJEE(Odisha Joint Entrance Examination) and my rank was 3699 but back then IIIT BBSR was not a deemed university. It gained its university status in 2013 so it conducts its own exam for admissions of freshers M.tech and doctorate candidates now.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

IIIT BBSR is now a deemed university so it has its own curriculum now and conducts all exams i.e admissions exam and semesters on its own, results are declared on time earlier it used to be late as it was affiliated to BPUT. As far as curriculum is considered i would say it has the best especially for the students who will be joining after 2014 because it has structure followed in iits and last semester is dedicated to project only. So ample of time to prepare for placement and exams.

Internships Opportunities

Till now DELL is the only company that takes students for internships every year. They provide around 15000 per month as stipend

Placement Experience

4.5

In terms of placement IIIT BBSR is a place to be with over more than 70% people getting placed MNC like DELL package 5 LPA for All barnches(EEE,ETC,CSE,IT)ITC package 3.15 LPA for all barnchesInfosys package 3.25 LPA for all branches IBM package 3.15 LPA for all branches Snapdeal 15LPA only CSE Capgemini 3 LPA all branches Tech mahindra 3LPA all branches Mindtree it came after i passed out so i exactly dont know the packageI bexi package 4.2 LPA all branches AMDOCS package according to performance.

College Events

4

ADVAITA is a technocult fest organised every year in IIIT BBSR,participants from all around the state and outthe state come to participate in this event. Tech events comprises of various manual and automated robotic events, seminars, quiz. Cult events comprises of dance competition, ramp walk, singing competition, rock band competition. In sports and fun there are events like footstall, archery, tug of war, super six cricket match. At the end of the fest there is a celebrity night while i was in the campus i saw Mohd. Irfan and Divya kumar Performing and at the end DJ,last year SUNBURN came to IIIT BBSR. Even salsa workshops are conducted.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The total amount a student has to pay per sem is roughly 77000 i would say its expensive as it is a self sustaining university i.e government only provide land and infrastructure and rest all is managed by the college. Out of which 50000 is tuition fees.

Fees and Financial Aid

TWF is a scholarship provided to certain students whose family annual income is less than 2 lpa one of my friend availed it in this tuition fee is excluded from your fees.

Hostel Facilities

2

Hostel is compulsory in IIIT BBSR until and unless you are suffering from some disease and you need medic attention you have to stay in hostel. Hostel rooms are spacious the boys and girls hostel are adjacent to each other both are nine floor high lift facility available. Each block has 7 rooms 6 rooms 3 sharing and one 4 sharing prefer 4 more space. Mess food as usual its a general problem in every college not good until you order something that is not in the normal menu.

Exam Structure

During the first two semesters students are going to face hectic schedule hardly finding time for themselves after those two sems gradually pressure eases. Most of the labs are till 4th sem and this is according to my curriculum where we used to have 6 subjects every sem except 7th and 8th now the new curriculum has 5 subjects each sem and 8th is only project. Lab exams are easy just maintain good impression with the faculties and stay attentive maximum attainable mark is 100 while each semester is divided into two parts mid sem and end sem. Mid sem is a small exam of 30 marks and end sem is of 50 marks and rest 20 mark is divided into class quiz 10 marks and class performance 10 marks.

Faculty

4

I was an electronics and telecommunication student and to be frank you wont learn much in classrooms that is what i concluded you have to give time for self study in engineering,no doubt the faculty provided by IIIT are excellent you can find IIT in every faculties resume but still they alone cant make a good student as a student in engineering we have to put in lots of effort. Faculties will just cover the courses thats it but i would like to mention two faculty names in whose class i learnt and enjoyed both whether its lab or classroom Mr.P.K Biswal and Doc Sanjay ku Padhi.

Course curriculum was very classical , too much theory oriented for placement point of view they will provide last 1 month or 2 months training for aptitude part rest for technical you have to study on your own.

Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University - [SOA], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Jan 9, 2026(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

I actually have a very little idea about placements of our uni few seniors says there is not a single company visiting, while few were discussing the highest placement which was something like 20lpa or something,i think companies do visit our campus it may not be much but i have definetly seen one or two companies visiting. I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.

Gandhi Engineering College (GEC Autonomous), Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Dec 22, 2025(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.
