Remarks

The faculty is top notch, good laboratories and experienced staff who help you to have hands on experience of conducting experiments. Libraries with very good reference books at easy access. I took up zoology because it's obviously an interesting subject and also because it is a very basic subject from which multiple avenues open.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course syllabus is somewhat updated. But it nevertheless is very interesting. Some of the faculty members are actually very good which includes our HOD. They know exactly how to help us develop a grasp on each subject.

Placement Experience

4

Placement process is supposedly good. Usually many students get opportunity for Master's Degree course in reputed universities across the country.

College Events

3.5

Events like sports day, intercollege fests and winter carnivals are held. Saraswati Puja is also celebrated. The intercollege fest is usually the biggest event of the year. Large number of dignitaries and celebrities attend the event. Participation number is very large.

Campus Life

We have two large general libraries. One departmental library which provides books exclusively on topics related to zoology. Lab equipment is so-so. But specimens are really good and available in really large numbers.

Placement Experience:

Number of students who have been placed is far less than what it should be ideally. Kolkata is a paradise for law practice as it is the largest city of India and lawyers have always been in demand here. Still only 30% of the students are placed here and that's a big issue considering the name of our college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The main thing that I love about the curriculum is that we need to study in depth. Our syllabus contains most basic to really professional level stuff which really help us prepare for real life experiences and further academic pursuits. The only change i would like is more practical experiences that would be helpful.

Placement Experience:

The students become eligible for campus placements from third year that is after 5th semester. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant and IBM are amongst the mass hirers. Almosy 80 percent of the students get placed every year and the top 10 percent of the students receive high paying job offers. The average package is around 4.86 LPA and in 2023, the highest package was 16 LPA and in 2022, the highest package was 44 LPA. Talking about my future plans, I wish to pursue my masters abroad after completing my undergraduate course here.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As I mentioned, the course curriculum is outdated and no new industry knowledge is being taught. Projects and assignments are also bookish and are just for sake. Teaching methods by teachers are also bookish and backward. The frequency of exams are after every 6 months and are pretty manageable and easy.
