Remarks
Considering the year, a pretty difficult choice to make was, whether to do an MBA or not. After getting shortlisted for all the new IIMs, I was in quite a dilemma to choose the college that would help me achieve my goals and aspirations. One of the major things that caught my eye were the Diversity Videos, on Youtube. It made me feel that I could blend in well with the crowd too. The admission process was rather smooth. Few students of the MBA2 batch had circulated their numbers on all the social media platforms along with a various educational blog, which made it easier for us to clear our doubts regarding the process. The IIMU official website is very well maintained with all the relevant information updated. Various blogs like UForum and Humans of Balicha too were very interesting to go through.
Course Curriculum Overview
Considering that everything is happening online, offline to online teaching has taken place relatively smoothly. All the courses in the curriculum are up to date with the present-day scenario and are continually evolving. The Case Study method of teaching is religiously followed in all the subjects, making education more interesting and practical. Regular quizzes along with Mid/End Semester exams make sure that everything we learn is well retained. Currently, the present batch of 2020 consists of 325 students, and the number of teachers involved with the batch is 22.
Placement Experience
IIM Udaipur is a fairly new college, and in a very short span of time, it has become quite a brand. Attaining a QS and an FT ranking and being in the top 20 B-Schools, is not an easy feat. Compared to other new IIMs, it is doing really great in terms of placement. The average domestic package ranges from 14-16 LPA and generally, 100% is observed every year.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fees for my MBA course are close to 18 Lakhs. Per year it's close to 9 Lakhs. The fees are collected per semester. Various financial aids facilities are provided to students with a modest economic background. The college makes sure that no such barrier is created, which disables the students from learning. Also, various scholarship awards are presented after every term to the top-performing students, which encourages students to perform better.
Campus Life
The three major fests organized by IIM Udaipur are: 1. Utkrisht - Sports Event 2. Solaris - Management Event 3. Audacity - Cultural Event Apart from the above-stated events, various leadership programs are also organized. There are 32 student-run organizations that include clubs and committees of various kinds. The library is well facilitated. Various e-book publications are available too.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is great. It is situated amongst the green valley of the campus surrounded by hills and lakes, which enhances the hostel experience altogether. Basic amenities like WiFi, induction, microwave, etc are available. The washrooms are well equipped. Rooms are cleaned on a daily basis.
Interview Experience
After giving CAT, the eligible students were shortlisted for WAT/PI rounds. The WAT or Writing Ability Test required us to write an essay of about 600-1000 words on the given topic. Most of the WAT topics are based on current affairs, thus its highly recommended to brush up on the latest news before going for WAT/PI. The questions asked in the interview are highly subjective and depends mostly on your CV and the latest news. They test you on confidence and how you handle not knowing specific questions. No GD took place.
