Course Curriculum Overview
As far my knowledge in my field, I've came across that they do provide opportunities & exposure but there's lack of experienced faculties in our course because it's a fairly new course in India. The structure for research & patents are there in the college but it's mainly self driven by the students who want to follow up research. Industry specific knowledge- Yes they have that but to deliver it they need experienced faculties. Campus placement is definitely there but just with one problem it won't be in the core field unless you're from IT or CSE background.
Placement Experience
Talking about placement- There's very few core companies come to campus placements when talking about courses like Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical but in the other hand IT & CSE companies are in bulk so the scenarios is that the students from any branch of engineering will land up in a IT/ITES job. The students that gets placed are high in number & the packages they recieve are very less in amount hence Quantity over Quality is there in Placement scenarios.
College Events
There are multiple eventsTechfest - from Go-kart, to RC planes Every technical fest you can find hereFrom acrobatic flyers(Drone) competition to amphibian bot. Also chemical & petrochemicals projects & patent are on display. Cultural - So it has organized Asia's cultural fest & from different countries different cultures of people come in to show their diversity. Then there's multiple events going on simultaneously some day an actor/actress coming up for their movie promotion & intellectual seminars taking place.
Fee Structure And Facilities
During 2016 when I joined the college the fee structure was really feasible considering the fact that the kind of exposure & opportunities that they provide but now it has been increased significantly, hence the fees are now expensive compared to past 4 years & this fees every increases for the new batch & remains same for the duration of the course.
Fees and Financial Aid
So the scholarship I recieved was as the result of merit I got in my 12th board exams 88%, hence recieved 20% if it would've been >90 the scholarship was then given 50% & if it was >95 then 100% scholarship was provided & yes the T&C were applied throughout the scholarship hierarchy. One note to be made is that the scholarship was given on academic fees & not hostel fees.
Campus Life
Extra curricular- This is on the top of the list as it's the only best part here, lot of opportunities in every field from sports to academics competition, even international competition in USA held by NASA, so the event part is well managed here. Speaking of gender ratio & diversity. The gender ratio is nearly the same as every college with a bit of diversification as there are students from all over the globe.
Hostel Facilities
Yes in the start I opted for hostel & it's cost was around 75000/year including mess charges, although now they've increased it. The rooms were small around 4 students per room but you could also opt for 3 sharing & single room too & the charges were simultaneously higher upto 1. 25 lac/year, this included Air conditioned rooms & in 4 sharing room the normal ones there was coolers/air vents for cooling systems, enough to survive in the humid summer of Northern India.
Alumni/Alumna
Not really helpful. As we were the 2nd batch that passed out there's not much alumini network that formed. Being from a completely new branch didn't had the place for an alumni. After the graduation of our seniors also there isn't much alumini network with them.
Admission
I filtered out this institute based on some very specific conditions. As to what course I'll be studying here: B. E. Mechatronics - As this course was rarely offered by any institutions at that time during 2016, I opted here it in Mohali, Punjab. The add on exposure as students from different parts of the country & from different continents were coming here. I got the admission on basis of my CBSE 12th board merit with 20% discount on admission fee due to my performance in the 12th boards, although that scholarship comes with certain T&C during the course of your Degree. It was around in end of May or so that the admission process was going on. The process was simple at that time, you need to go for counselling matter in order to know if they offer the course & curriculum that you want, they'll explain you that part. Some down payment were done for 1st semester if you're satisfied with the course & the college, but now admission process has changed to entrance exam specifically if you want scholarships.
Faculty
Most of the faculties in the university are post graduate freshers pursuing PhD from the same University, hence the teaching staff is also studying while teaching here, hence a mature knowledge base is lacking due to inexperienced faculties, very few faculties have strong base knowledge about their subjects & out of those few very minimal amount of teachers are expert in their fields of teaching.
