Remarks
College is great, administration is supportive. Clubs in college are student run, do various activities you ll get tired but activities won't end.
Course Curriculum Overview
There is a lot of relevant field work experience. Research process is intense spread throughout 2 years. They teach you to be accepting and humble in any situation, that prepares for life and not just profession. They are the best in social work for the reason that they invest so much in each child that comes to them. They have mental health as priority and it's a beautiful different world altogether.
Placement Experience
Placements depend on course chosen. Some courses guarantee placements some like mine guarantee life lessons and no regrets of not having enough placements. They teach us to make a dent in the criminal justice system and keep hope of seeing the change that we expect in world.
College Events
We have various events from student clubs and also events from various schools, life HR and management, social work, health systems etc. There is never a dull evening on campus, there are shayari nights, dance nights, acoustic nights, game nights, hiking weekends etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It's affordable compared to other universities they also try provide students aid to as many students as they can and call for private funders as well to aid students. No additional fees charged. There is utmost transparency in fee structure. Though they haven't repaid the hostel security deposit yet.
Fees and Financial Aid
I didn't get any scholarship. It was funded by parents for me. I come from a privileged background and I am aware of it, so I didn't exploit it by snatching someone's only chance to fund their higher education.
Campus Life
Gender ratio is in favour of women and other sexes. We have gender neutral hostels for people who are gender fluid. We have annual sports events and sports team participate in other college's sports event. We have regular street plays, random flash mobs, poetry nights, shayari nights, quiz nights etc.
Hostel Facilities
Yes. Rooms are not very spacious. But if you are from Mumbai, you ll not complain about it. One gets options of twin sharing, four sharing room and 6/8 sharing halls. We had common washrooms, well maintained and sufficient for everyone on floor. We could use machines for laundry once a week. Water was never and issue, we had windows for ventilation, rooms were well light and had enough extension points. Pgs around the college were 3 times costlier than hostel, but had lesser restrictions in terms of in-time and facilities such as ac.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is through college association. Not that great. But have sessions with alumni in annual festivals.
Admission
We had tissnet entrance then a pre interview written test and then faculty interviews. Our department has 36 seats but they only fill 25 each year at max. Considering quality of intakeI opted for this course in furtherance of my love for the subject and the brand that tiss is.
Faculty
Faculty is beyond comparison. They are inclined to making you fall in love with process of learning, unlearning and relearning. Each student is assigned a mentor for fieldwork and another for research guidance. Apart from that, all the faculty is so approachable and friendly. They listen and give suggestions. They are all very experienced and passionate, each of them involved with some big government project or running their own NGO
