Course Curriculum Overview

4

The courses here are totaly practical based and less are theorotical. Hence you could get grass root knowledge about any subject There are no objections on teaching methods but as on saying of curriculum there are need to be micro level changes. The exam schedule is prepared on basis of difficulty of the exam. But the courses are so relevant that you would easily cover the syllabus within a single read.

Internships Opportunities

4

The 8th semester of the course is the internship itself provided by the University curriculum. In this the students have to work in the deemed field and yeild the income from crops grown or by formulation of fertilizers, pesticides, insecticides, etc. also from the dairy and bakery products.

Placement Experience

3

From semester 7 students become eligible for campus placements. The highest package offered by the companies is around 15 LPA and the average offered is 5-6 LPA The percentage of students getting placements is 40% My plans after getting a degree is to establish a buisness or if got a placement in an company would continue further with it.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is separate for each semester and you have to register for the coureses each semester. The fees are flexible but at the range of around 15,000rs. each semester. The average fee structure for each semester is as follows: Tution fees: 3000rs Medical fee: 200rs. Library fee : 800rs. Grade card : 200rs. Examination fee : 1600rs. Maintainance fee : 3000rs. Electricity charge : 3000rs. College Magzine : 400rs. Annual prize distibution : 400rs. Ashwamedh Sport fee : 50rs Student safety insurance : 100rs. Gymkhana : 1000rs. Total : 14,150rs.

Campus Life

4

There are many festivals held here in the campus like Krushitarang ( farewell ceremony of last year students) Krushi Chashak ( A General Championship game held by students committee formed by students itself) You can get accessibility for 8 days for a book borrowed from library The classrooms are made accessible with well enough ventilation and provided with ceiling fans also Digital Boards There is a student committee selected from 3rd year students which handles all the activities being performed in the campus also the NSS and NCC students are always on the fore front in all the events.

Hostel Facilities

3

The hostel rooms provided for boys have a ceiling fan, 3 switch boards, 2 cupboards and 4 beds one each for a student. The bathrooms and restrooms are common for each hostel building. There is a seperate mess for 1st year students and a Student's co-operative mess for 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students. The 1st year mess is tender based mess and is functioned by an appointed outsider. The menu is changed every 2 months by inculsion of vegetables or by changing the schedule of vegetables as per recommended by student council appointed by students itself. The registration for hostel is done at the timing of admission and registration while the charges for hostel is just 6000 P.A. for the campus hostel. There is availability of private hostels outside of the campus also.

Admission

I had applied for other colleges of Agriculture field only. But for answering the question this college is located in the centre of Pune city. No, I didn't get any rejection from any college as I had this college as my first preference over all. The admission process for my college is to pass the Common Entrance Test exam conducted by Maharasthra board by acquiring a good percentage (caste wise variable) the cutoffs are like : open category - 98-99 percentile Ews category - 96-98 percentile OBC - 92 percentile ... And like wise The ICAR exam conducted by Indian Council of Agricultural Research is also eligible for enrolling in this college.

Faculty

4

The faculty here are less as compared to jobs available. As two- three work is assigned to a single faculty it makes them too embeded in work. The faculty is too much supportive to students and make students feel comfortable around them. There are no any such faculty I dont like as they do their work efficiently. In each semester you would have two exams one would be Mid-semester examination and the other would be semester end finals. The exams are not too easy and not too difficult. The passing percentage in exams is 97% of 250 students, every semester. The course curriculum changes every 7 years and it is changed this year i.e. 2024 onwards.

Night Life

5

There is a seperate gym for Boys and Girls located in the ground, A cafeteria at the college entrance gate, a central library and hostel specific libraries. The college is open for all from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm. The hostel timing for Girls is 6:00 am to 7:30 pm and on Sunday it closes at 8:30 pm. While for 1st year boys it is 6:00 am to 9:00 pm and for 2nd,3rd and 4th year it is 6:00 am to 12:00am. The locality outside the campus is fully safe as at distance of 100 meters from college main gate there is police station of Shivajinagar,Pune. The famous hangout places near the campus is the Lakadi bridge, pataleshwar cave temple, lakaki lake, Chittaranjan vatika, Mahadev temple and the famous FC social road.

Placement Experience:

For campus placement, students are eligible from seventh semester. Placement done through companies or industry attaches to college according to their requirements and take interview of those students who applied for campus placement. There are some known company's like Sygenta, BAYER crops, Advanta, RCF, sugar factories and milk dairy, Amul, Ferrero rocher, Mahindra, TATA etc. Highest package was 9.2 LPA from BAYER. There is no percentage matter for placement just students should have Skills , communication, Marketing, decision-making etc. My plans after getting degree is to get admission in IIM Ahmedabad for next PG in MBA Finance.

Course Curriculum Overview:

B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture course curriculum is semester based course in which equal emphasis is given on both pratical and theory part. Curriculum is developed by ICAR committee based on modern innovations and research done by scientists at IARI, New Delhi and is updated with time. One needs to pass seperately in practical as well as theory exam as per the credit or marks the subject holds. In 7th semester you are exposed to practical experience by means of RAWE- which is a kind of rural internship which gives you chance to apply all learnings of subjects that studied from 1st to 6th semester and then in 8th semester you are exposed to business modules that prepares you to commercially test your skills in real day world. Overall the whole curriculum is easy to moderate and one tends to enjoy the practical part more .

All the staff had pursued master's in agriculture. The staff is supportive. It is difficult to pass the degree with 12 subjects every semester.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because I wanted to pursue studies in Agriculture as it's a somewhat non-conventional but very important subject for the country. Faculty: student is I must say very good. You'll easily find at least 4-5 professors in each department so there's no dearth of Faculty. You can approach them any time easily. Each faculty is highly qualified and commands great knowledge of the subject matter. Almost every faculty have been associated with most eminent institutions and even international institutes as well and has contributed to several research work. The teaching method is good but they prefer to teach in the local language (Marathi) which can be a hindrance for other states' students. However, they shift to English if raised concerned. Exams are conducted in a very disciplined manner and very timely whether midterms or semester-end exams. In this regard, the college is very punctual. The difficulty level to pass the exams is moderate. However, very little leniency is given while evaluating the answer
