Remarks
One thing that I specifically did not like about the college was that for every other important event such as filling of forms, exam schedules etc; the students were notified just a day before the event. As it takes some time to arrange for the event, this was highly inconvenient.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum was very precise and contemporary, related to the modern world. The syllabus is specially customized to fit the current industry standards and to make the students better adapt to the present day world. I was able to learn a lot about marketing, organizational behaviour, advertising, ethics and many more. I think the curriculum is of a high quality. But unfortunately, there weren't any industrial visits.
Placement Experience
The palcement of my college is quite good with many students getting placed with a job that paid around 20-25K. Also many students had opted to study further so not many were available for the placement events, myself included. Those who appeared got the job. The placement process generally consisted of a profile based interview. Companies like Deloitte, PWC and INDIGO visited the college for placement. The institute did not prepare specifically for the placement.
College Events
The main event organized by our college is called SRIJAN. It is the yearly fest held by the institute with various types of events held throughout the two day festival. Many competitions are prepared like singing, dancing, debating, make something good out of waste, fashion show and a music event. Almost every student of the college participates in one or the other event and let their hair loose by the end of the festival which usually ends with a musical night hosted by a musician.
Fee Structure And Facilities
I believe the fee structure for my course is feasible. It is around 50000 yearly. And the college accepts the fee in the form of a demand draft. There were no additional fees that had to be paid in order to secure an admission in the college. And yes, the college does provide transparency in the free breakdown.
Fees and Financial Aid
I did not opt for any educational loan as the fees was manageable. And the fees had to be paid on yearly basis.
Campus Life
Our college is an all girls college. Fortunately, there is no discrimination faced by students because of ethnicity, race, religion or sexual orientation. Also the infrastructure of our college is very good with big air conditioned classrooms and labs. Every year a fest is organized on an inter college level and many other fests organized by different departments as well.
Hostel Facilities
As my hostel does not have any hostel, the students have to live in PG's. And the average cost for staying in a PG was around 10K. Other expenses came around 5K and total approximately 15K was spent on living there for a student who was studying away from home.
Alumni/Alumna
My experience with the college seniors was good as they shared everything with us related to studies, projects, events and work related activities. They were very helpful and shared their own experiences as well.
Admission
Shri Shikshayatan College is one of the best colleges in Kolkata, West Bengal and India. I opted for this College because it is quite an old and good institute affiliated under Calcutta University with notable alumni like Mamata Banerjee, Trina Saha, Usha Ganguly etc. I also opted for BBA in this institution because I wanted to pursue a management career and this is one of the best institutes in India to offer this course. The admission procedure was primarily based on a merit list. The selected candidates were further called in for a group discussion and a personal interview. The cumulative scores were then prepared for the final admission into the institute.
Faculty
The faculty of our college is good. Specifically in my course every subject had a different lecturer. I had 18 subjects in total in 3 years and there were approximately 15 lectures for the same. The faculty was quite young so I would say the average age of the lecturers was around 40-45. Most of them had Phd's to their names and many of them had graduated from the same college. These lecturers were quite well versed in their subjects and were able to teach these subjects well making the students understand everything.
