Course Curriculum Overview
This course of fashion design focuses on core subjects of fashion like pattern making, garment construction, fashion art etc. It includes craftwork with artisans through cluster program. A hands on experience helps students to make patterns and construct garments.
Placement Experience
The Institute offers us with placements opportunities from big brands and they also provide trainings or internship to some students. Companies of artists, designers, start ups, NGO's etc come for placements. NIFT has always been the favorite place for designers and fashion professionals.
College Events
Many events and activities like seminars, conferences, workshops, photography campaigns etc takes place here. They celebrate many festivals along with picnic, yoga, projects etc in which students take part in huge numbers.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure of every NIFT campus is the same. For my course I had to pay ?2,70,900 for the first year. Fees for all 4 years is approx 2.50 lakhs and it may seem a bit expensive as it offers placements by recruiters of top brands and with all the facilities and events, it seems to be valid.
Fees and Financial Aid
They provide scholarship with a financial assistance scheme called SARTHAK which gives concession to needy and deserving students who belong to backward sections of the society. Also a scheme UDAAN is included which is for foreign students.
Campus Life
NIFT has a huge campus and facilities offered by them are pretty amazing. They provide us with library, auditorium, laboratories for all designing work, computer lab, cafeteria, pattern making labs, garment construction labs and a photography studio.
Hostel Facilities
Yes, NIFT provides Hostel facilities for girls in this campus. There are nice rooms with good mess food . There are 161 rooms in the girls hostel with a total capacity of 462 girls. Hostel provides well maintained rooms with a Wi-Fi connection for students.
Admission
To get admission in NIFT, you have to give an entrance exam of CAT and GAT which tests your creative and general ability. If you pass these tests then for bachelors a situation test is taken and for masters a group discussion and personal interview is held. Those you pass all these are selected.
Faculty
In my opinion, NIFT faculty is filled with highly educated teachers who teach in their own unique ways and also provide guidance during time of need. They are qualified and pass out from one of the best universities. Also, each department has their own chairperson who is incharge of the management of course curriculum.
