Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is industry oriented. A few new changes have been made to the curriculum to make it more relevant to the current scenario. We had to appear for exams regularly. We had both practical and theory portions.
Placement Experience
Students can avail pre-placement offers or on-campus placements. PPOs are offered to those students who have completed their internship in a certain company. About 90 per cent of the students are able to get internships. The internships can be either paid or unpaid.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is quite high. Since fashion-related courses are offered in fewer institutes and they are quite different from the regular professional courses, the facilities which have to be provided for such courses are also different. So a high price needs to be charged, but the facilities which are made available to us are satisfactory. The total fee charged for our course is around 11 lakh rupees.
Campus Life
Our college is spread across 9.5 acres. There are separate blocks for academics and workshop. General facilities like canteen, well-furnished classrooms are also available. There is a specialised lab for each course which is a speciality of our college. There is an auditorium also with a seating capacity of about 600 students.
Admission
Before being granted admission to the National Institute of Fashion Technology I had to go through a rigorous screening procedure. The admission is based on the NIFT entrance exam which is followed by a group discussion or personal interview round. After that, the shortlisted candidates are granted admission.
Faculty
The college faculty is well qualified and experienced too. Some of them have worked for several years in the fashion industry. They are supportive and guide us. They teach us about real-life challenges faced while working.
