Mixed experience

The college is awesome and has got vast library that is the centre point of attraction for all the students. I developed reading habit and that helped me improve my answers in the examinations. The campus infrastructure needs some improvement.

The Course Curriculum for B.A. English is approved by North Eastern Hill University. The course is divided into three years and six semesters. The examinations are tough and you have to study regularly to clear them.

Though the college provides learning atmosphere to the students. It does not provide any placement support. You can talk to the faculties about internships if any. This aspect of the college needs improvement.

The college celebrates cultural events through which the college brings young generations together to perform. Many workshops and seminars are also arranged throughout the year. You can participate in events of your choice after seeking permission of the faculties.

A student has to pay Rs. 13250/- per year for three years, the total fees for three years amounts to Rs. 39750/-. It is quite affordable but the college can improve the facilities so that students pay the fees in time.

Scholarships are applicable as per the Government norms to the students of SC/ST/OBC categories a student has to approach the office with the documents. The college also provides Government Scholarship to physically challenged and minority students.

The extra curricular activities provide a platform to the students I really enjoyed participating in the events. The students can mix and interact with each other. There is no politics on the campus. All students are more focused on academic learning. The workshops by the college helps us in developing our personality.

The college is not providing any hostel facilities. You can get accommodation near college premises on rental and sharing basis. It is economical and less expensive. Average rental per month that one has to pay is between Rs. 2000 to Rs. 4000.

The alumni network is not that functional. The senior students help in completion of assignments and guide to take various test available for improvement. One of my alumni told me about TOEFL and that helped me prepare myself well.

I had purchased the prospectus from the office and appeared in the entrance examination conducted by the college. The minimum eligibility is 10+2. It was a happy moment for me to get admission in Shillong College.

The faculty is experienced and take classes regularly. More focus is academics and regular assignments are given by the faculty to help students to develop the writing skills in English. The faculties are supportive.
