Entrance Preview

IIT-JEE, score-110I had always been interested in computers, so my choice of IT engineering seemed apt. The admission process was quite long. I had to choose my extra subjects which included french, german, japanese or business law, sociology etc.

Course Curriculum Overview

It was pretty easy as for first year since most of the subjects were that i had already studied in 12th class. Some other subjects like engineering graphics, engineering mechanics, workshop etc were there which were new and seemed interesting.

Internships Opportunities

I saw a lot of companies come in our college for placements like infosys, morgan stanley, wipro, accenture, etc. Since I am still in 3rd year, i have had no internship experience as such. But the highest placement was 12 lakh per annum. The average package rate was 3.5 but.

The placements seemed very average. But most of the students got placed which was a fantastic thing as on campus placements are very hard to find in other colleges.

Fees and Financial Aid

All the "scholarships" were for OBC, SC-ST caste people who travelled in cars with their drivers and always applied them for even less fees which they were already paying . For other general and foreign students there were no such facilities whatsoever.

Faculty

It was not so good. Some of the faculty members were nice but most of them were arrogant and seemed hardly interested in teaching us. We had a feedback session in which we could grade the teachers and write down comments on whether we were happy with their performances but that hardly seemed to change their performance. Also, the head of the student staff was very rude.

Placement Experience:

After 3rd year students are eligible to apply for on campus internships and in 4th year 6 month internship is compulsory. Talking about placements generally 3rd or 4th year students can apply for on campus placements. For companies you can the college website about companies, percentage placement, highest package, average package, median package, lowest package, etc. Also there are various options such as Mtech, MBA or abroad studies.

Except for VIT, Pune, I had applied to colleges like PCCOE, PICT and etc colleges located in Pune itself. My JEE rank was around 77000 or 91.12 percentile and my CET percentile was 96.4, so I couldnt get into PICT. Even if i wanetd to get into PICT, i was getting the EnTC branch, which i didnt want. The admission process included firstly of CAP round followed by SPOT round. The cutoff for various branches depends on the CET and JEE Merit rank/percentile that you have got and on the basis of that youll get the branches in CAP or SPOT round....Read More
