Course Curriculum Overview

The course requires total three years to complete. We had to give total six semesters throughout the course. We had to give two semesters per year. To monitor the performance of the students, the professors often took our surprise class tests.

Placement Experience

The institution organized two types of placement programs for us. One was the summer internship program and the other was the overseas summer internship program. After the completion of our sixth semester these internship programs were organised.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The course fees that I had to pay for my course was 33,000 which was pretty feasible, considering the facilities that our institution offered us. We had to pay the fees on semester basis. This fees included all the basic components such as examination fees, laboratory fees, tuition fees and many more.

Campus Life

The institution often organised workshops and conferences for all the students which helped us a lot in our academics and placements. In the workshops they organized talks by many reputed academicians.

Hostel Facilities

The hostel fees in our institution was 8000 per year which was really economic. Our institution's hostel rules were quite strict for all the students but we had all the basic facilities available in our hostel.

Alumni/Alumna

We never experienced any ragging inside our institution's campus and neither in the hostel. Our seniors really helped us a lot by sharing their valuable experiences regarding exams and placements which helped us long run.

Admission

I had always wanted to read in this institution. After completing my three years Diploma course in polytechnic, I got an admission in this institution. My selection was through a counselling conducted by the Director of Technical Education. My name was on the second merit list.

Faculty

My experience with the faculty members of the institution was quite satisfactory. The professors were very supportive and helpful towards us. The laboratories of our department were well equipped with all the instruments that were required.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not really good in our college, it is more of a research institute so it mainly focuses on PhD as PhD strength is good. Higher education is more prefered here but placement scenario is also good

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very relevant and is different for different branches according to their needs. I was interested in civil engineering and chose the course and find the curriculum intersting and relevant for me . The curriculum offers subject which are important for real world applications, like in civil engineering it's offers subjects like building construction, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, material testing, serving, etc. The course curriculum is very good but the teaching methods needs improvement like more digitalization . The exams frequency and timings are neither too late nor too early, they are perfectly planned and executed.

Digboi college and my experience through it .

Course Curriculum Overview:

There exists a good teaching staff that's why the course is very easy to understand also teachers give us good examples also do practicals so that's students understand the course easily . I see that there exist a low no of equipments in practical lab compare to it's students ratio so if they have a good no of equipments then all students get equipment to do experiment without any waste of time . Time is good as compare to marks and the first 30 marks are beginner level the other 40 marks are intermediate level and the remaining 30 Marks are advanced level questions in a question paper for the students they published.

Life in GIPS

Placement Experience:

In the 8th semister, students will eligible for campus placement. Our college will organize campus placement. Where different companies come and if you pass the interview then you will get the job. Companys like sun pharma, Ajanta pharma will come. And they have different requirements. In starting you will get 2.5 lakhs of the package and other offers are there. In GIPS most of the students get the placement. My plan after b pharm is I will study for M pharm in GIPS.

About my college

Remarks:

I didn't have any negative remarks until last year. So there was a mistake on my form fill up. I put the right details and selected my subjects. I have selected English as my MIL and submitted my form. But when I get the admit card I got to know that my MIL subject was selected as Assamese which I never selected. Then in the examination I gave the ex for English and didn't gave for Assamese as my subjects wasn't Assamese. I told the teacher who signed my examination copy he told that it will be fixed but on the results day I got to know that it was marked as absent in the MIL exam because I didn't sit for the Assamese examination which I did because I was English student. Then I asked them they said to get my sessional exam marks from the HOD of English department. I went to the HOD and she said that the copy in which they put the records is with the commerce head so I went to him. He said he didn't have the copy and told me to get to the HOD I went back to HOD she said she didn't have the copy. Both of them didn't have the copy for which I didn't able to fix the problem. It's not cool.

Before the admissions there was an entrance exam held which is known as PAT ( Polytechnic Admission test) which is held between July -August for new batches . After the entrance exams the students cleared go through councelling where the authorities allocate the students preferred the institutes of their choice in regards to their marks obtained . The students fillup the online registration forms with a hardcopy with their birth certificate 10th and 12th marks and if they have studied in some other colleges or schools with a Transfer certificate from that particular college or school .
