Remarks

college management is very poor. They won't give students freedom. Everyone should be in hostel at all times and for going home even on holidays they ask us for a request form which is a tedious task considering 150 students and 1 person of authority.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

the curriculum was groomed according to the needs and with application orientated. It deals eith the latest trends in the industry and with each year new edition was used and mainly foreign authors are used for course curriculum as it is new and quite challenging to learn compared to Indian authors. I would say it is fair because not only the traditional approach but we also learned the new and latest advances in our stream

Placement Experience

2

Placements are not bad. It companies like TCS, CTS, Infsys, wipro, TechM takes most of the students from the campus more than 95% of CS graduates would get placed but for our stream that is the Mechanical Engineering the number of core companies coming are so low. Main core companies are Bosch, L&T etc. General steps would be to conduct a pre placement talk then written or lab exam then sometimes GD and mostly 2 sets of interviews. For mechanical engineering tentative percentage of placed students would be around 60 to 75 percent. Even though institutions provide placement training the core companies coming for placements are so low

College Events

3.5

Vidyut the name of the tech fest Amrita Kollam conducts but sadly only 1 time they conducted the tech fest in my whole academic life. Its a national level multi fest and participation would be very large and its a 3 day fest. We have a number of cultural and management events starting with onam, pongal, ugadi holi etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Its very expensive structure. My program fee would be around 8Lakhs which was in 2013-17. Mode of payments would be like 8 installments for 8 semesters through dhanlakshmi bank. yes they're very clear about their fee breakdowns. No there was no additional payments for the admission.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes college had offered scholarships to some of the students eho have excelled through out his life that means from 1st till 12th and if he/she gets less mark during the course scholarship is withdrawn automatically.

Campus Life

3.5

Talking about gender ratios or diversity they've done a pretty good job. there are some percentage allotted for tamil, telugu students which remains the same and balance the diversity. the gender ratio is also good but not in mechanical engineering but can't blame the college for that.

Hostel Facilities

0.5

nobody was allowed to be day scholars except the ones who has house around 30kms. We're not allowed to stay outside lile PGs or rent houses. For 1st years they're supposed to stay near ashram hostels to avoid ragging and other purposes. 4 in 1 room which is very dingy and horrible. after 1st year they would send us to hostels near campus were we would get rooms with sufficient spaces but still 4 in 1 shared rooms. common bathroom except for 1st year. Rentals would be 55000 per year and food included.

Alumni/Alumna

No. No contact with seniors and there's no alumni network too. For mechanical engineering there's no network but for some of the other courses they do.

Admission

Because i wanted to be an engineer and somehow my 12th marksheet got mixed up and never reached for Kerala entrance final rank preparations so my only choice was amrita as i got a good rank in amrita. An interview letter was sent to my home from Amrita and around may i got admission in amrita

Faculty

4.5

Some of the lectures have relevant experiences and i would say that lectures are very friendly towards the students. To be lectures a minimum qualification of Phd is required now. entry level teachers average age wou6be around 30 to 35 and many of them are alumnus of reputed engineering colleges.

The campus placements are decent. getting placed in a big company is more about having the technical and soft skills to pass the interviews. the placement training helps us develop soft skills but the technical skills must be developed ourselves.

Students in 7th and 8th semester are eligible to sit for campus placements. Companies like Oracle, Goldman Sachs, L&T, Bajaj, Caterpillar and PSU's like BEL,HPCL and BPCL come to the college usually the coding companies offer aroung 35-40 LPA CTC and the core PSU companies offer around 17-18 LPA. Highest Package is 51 LPA and an Average Package of 12 LPA. Nearly 85% students from Circuit and CS branch get placed and around 60% in core branches who sit for placements, My plans after getting the degree is to join MBA to learn how business world works and how the money flows
