Since I was interested in getting into an IIT from class 11, and IIT KGP was the only college that gave the best branch to college ratio among all other IITs that I was eligible for based off my rank. The admission process for my college for B.TECH involves JOSAA, a counselling system for all government engineering colleges in India where the eligibility criteria is based off JEE ADVANCED rank. Since you can only select one college through JOSAA, the only one i selected was this as this was the only one I was alotted based off my rank. The cutoff for my college is around 12000 for General Male and 20000 for General Female. This increases for other categories like SC ST OBC etc....Read More

I chose IIT KGp over all the other colleges i applied for because of it's academic reputation, big campus placement opportunites and good infrastructure. i was getting a confirmed addmission in DU but they were not providing any hostel facilities and IITKGP provides really strong security without any restriction and gives equal opportunities for both boys and girls....Read More

The other college i applied for was Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. It was my backup plan in case i could not make it to IIT Kharagpur. I did not chose BITS Pilani as I cracked JEE Advanced with enough marks to get into IIT. The opportunities which we get in IIT is far more than that in BITS, this was my sole reason to pich IIT over BITS. To get admission in any IIT you have to first crack JEE mains to be able to sit in JEE Advanced. Then you have toi crack JEE Advanced and sit in around 7 rounds of counciling to get into any IIT. But once you crack JEE Advanced its just a piece of cake from there on....Read More
