Remarks

As it's state run we cannot say there's zero corruption. Some professors and staff may not seem to be the most sincere. Some many have ego problems. But most of them are generally supportive and caring.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The college comes under KTU which is a university for technical institutions only. The curriculum is research driven but we also have a fair share of industry relevant courses. But some of the courses have a bit outdated syllabus. Also we can't take extra credits of our choice. We can only choose from a very small list and it's only open to students with very good CGPA. We also get placements training occasionally and as I'm a sophomore we don't get that many. But internship and placement oriented session are conducted quite often for 3rd and 4th students by the college and respected departments.

Placement Experience

4

Placements are excellent. Companies like Amazon, Arcesium, ABB, Texas Instruments, Analog Devices, Redpine Labs, Cypress Semiconductors, Siemens, Robert Bosch, Nissan Digital, Rolls-Royce, BPCL, Fleet Management, MRF, Royal Enfield, Hyundai, EY, Allianz, SAP Labs, Intuit, Flytxt, Saint Gobain etc come for recruitments. Many other start-ups and service based companies like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture etc also visit our campus. The institution gives good assistance for the students to procure placements.

College Events

5

Dhwani - the annual cultural fest. One of the biggest in South India, many renowned artists and personalities have be a part of this. Duration of 3 days Drishti - the annual tech fest. Arguably the best in the state. Filled with competitions, workshops, lecture series, cultural nights, paper presentations, project expo etc. Disha - the cultural fest for the freshmen organised by the sophomores. Sargam - the year wise arts competition. Tesla - tech fest conducted by department of electrical engineering e-scape - tech fest conducted by department of electronics and communication Pantheon - tech fest conducted by department of civil engineering Dot slash - tech fest conducted by department of computer science

Fee Structure And Facilities

Both electronic and cash payments are accepted. The college has a very moderate fee structure. Apart from tuition fee, PTA fund, caution deposit and other necessary payments no other charges are needed. The college is state run therefore there's complete transparency in all monetary aspects.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college, state govt and the national govt gives many scholarships for the disabled, economically weak and meritorious students. The eligibility criteria ranges from annual income of family to entrance ranks, board exam score, CGPA etc. The alumni association CETAA also give a lot of scholarships for the needy. There is a scholarships department in the administration department for giving assistance to the students.

Campus Life

3.5

As any engineering colleges the gender ratio favours boys. But it is better than most of the colleges in the state. There's a healthey social culture. Occasionally the political parties cause a little issues. But studying in a politically active college has it's own unique perks. All the problems of the students are addressed fast. The student council, club heads and execom members are all really supportive and helpful. Tech culture is excellent in the campus. There's a lot of peer to peer learning of industry relevant cutting edge technology happening here. The different clubs and student societies conduct workshops, lecture series, competitions etc very often.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Yes I have rented a PG with food. Both rent and food will cost me around 4300 rupees per month. Another 300-400 for electricity water and internet connectivity. The rooms are spacious with 2 or 3 sharing a room. The food is of good quality. There's no restrictions in our PG regarding the night outs if permission taken beforehand.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network of CET, namely CETAA is one of the biggest in the world. It has chapters all around the world. They give both economical and intellectual support to the college. Some of very commonly heard names in the fields of architecture, aerospace engineering, management, academia and even art including film directors music directors, musicians, script writers, intellectuals are from CET.

Admission

Admission is based on the rank list of KEAM. CET is the primary option for any candidate taking admission through KEAM. There are many factors that made me choose CET. It is the first engineering college in Kerala, and among the best. Some of the best minds in the state study here. A vast and beautiful campus. Awesome labs. Excellent tech and social culture. Some of the best technical and cultural tests in the country. Best placement stats in the state. So many opportunities in all the curricular and non curricular fields. Research opportunities are also good. Once the KEAM rank list is out(rank is based on your board marks and KEAM score with 1:1 weightage) the allotment process starts. We can fill out our preferred colleges in the required order in the website and the best college available for our rank is alloted after 4 rounds of allotment. For circuit branches in CET it is preferable to have a rank below 1.3k. Once alloted we can go and take admission at the college with the datasheet and allotment memo provided in the website for each student's profile.

Faculty

4

Almost all the permanent faculties are highly educated and have their master's and PhDs from reputed colleges IITs and IISc. Many of them also have done their PhDs, Post Doc's and master's from internationally acclaimed institutions outside of India. We have around 45 full time faculties in our department. Majority of them have PhDs. Average age is 45. Most of them have very good insights in the topics that they cover. Many of them are part of the ongoing research programs and projects funded by CERD, DRDO, ISRO etc. They also have very good industry experience as they provide consultancy services for the industry.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
