Remarks

No. Not any bad remark for college or its management. Just the transportation may be uncomfortable as Sikkim is a hilly area.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The college provides engineering courses with a good and better education scenario. It comes directly under MHRD, GoI, and do provide quality education. The laboratory are sophisticated with good instruments and machines. I believe, this college is better when you choose for Computer Science or Mechanica or Electronics & Communication engineering.

Placement Experience

4

Our college has a good placement stats. The Traning & Placement Cell (www.placement.nitsikkim.ac.in) is there for placement sof final year students and for providing internship opportunities to the juniors. They bring out some of the best organisations, not just from India but from foreign too to provide a better place for what they deserve being a part of NIT Sikkim. Companies also reach out to the college for campus recruitment. I got opprtunity to get a Summer Internship at IIT Delhi in last summer. And I am placed too in L&T Infotech.

College Events

4

Our college celebrates nearly all culltural festivals like Holi, Diwali, Christmas, Saraswati Puja etc. Apart from these, we have an annual technical fest called ABHIYANTRAN (http://www.abhiyantran.nitsikkim.ac.in/) and an annual cultural fest UDGAM (http://udgam.nitsikkim.ac.in/)

Fee Structure And Facilities

As this college comes under MHRD, GoI, its fee structure is not so expensive and includes multiple layers for students with different economic background. As I come under annual income less than 1 lac, my tution fees was remitted as per govt guidelines. In this case I only an amount of nearly 25000 per semester. For no remission at all, it crosses a little more than 1,50,000 per year. Mode of payments includes demand draft, and online modes only. No, there is no provision of extra fee for securing admission because the only option to get admission is to crack the entrance exam and achieve a good rank.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, I had to seek for an education loan which I applied in the bank having my saving account. It provides application form and ask for some required documents like college fee structure, income certificate, family details, etc. and then proceeds for your loan. It takes around a week and work gets done easily.

Campus Life

3.5

The campus life was very much interesting. For the first time I got to reach a place to live without my own family and to become a part of the new and large family - NIT Sikkim. A complete friendly environment with seniors as our guides and motivators. They informed us about the various events of the campus and encouraged to take part in and perform well. They also helped us in learning skills and do better.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Yes, I reside in the hostel. Most of us reside inside the college campus in hostels. There are no provision of booking seats or no left seats. Because students come from all over India, college is bound to provide hostel rooms if they need. Rooms are neat and clean with 24 hour electricity and water supply. It is sharing based - 3 or 4 students per room - with a bed, a table, an almirah and a chair for each student.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors were our guide and mogivators. They informed us about the various events of the campus and encouraged to take part in and perform well. They also helped us in learning skills and do better.

Admission

I had cleared JEE (Mains) to achieve a good rank. Then as per my choices priority and my rank, I was able to get admission in this college. This institute is one of 31 NITs of Govt. of India. Being 'An Institute of National Importance', and a hilly and beautiful location was the reason to opt for this college. For getting admission, one has to appear in the JEE (Mains) examination and get good marks to become a good rank holder. After that, an online counselling and filling of choices are done through sites authorised by MHRD. Then, as per rank, students get a seat. One has to report to nearest allowed institute for acceptance of the seat with some specific amount deposition. Then on specified dates, they reach the allotted college and take admission.

Faculty

4

All the faculties are atleast PhD holders with a background in some reputed institute. They have good academic background and posses better ways to instill knowledge in students' minds. They are very supportive and giving. They are flexible to students for assignments etc.

I do not have much idea about this field. If I'm not wrong internships begin from 2nd to 3rd year itself, and placements from 4th year. The avergae package here is around 6 LPA, and the highest package offered is 56 LPA. That'll be all from side.
