Remarks

It's a good college but you have to work hard from your end also. No one will spoon feed you.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The exam structure can get hectic at times. Every paper has three internal assignments, two surprise tests, two mid-semester tests, one quiz, two lab practical tests. At the end of every semester, final exams are held with a 60 mark paper of each subject. The question paper is set by the university and answer scripts are checked not by college teachers but at the university levels. After answer sheets are checked, one can take a look of their sheets to recognize their mistake. Even then you are not satisfied with checking you can apply for the rechecking of the sheets. Re-checking is very less time-consuming. Results are declared within a month. For students who have to participate in recruitment drives, students have to choose tpp in their 5th semester. In tpp sessions students are basically groomed. Improvement of their soft skills are the main focus along with their reasoning skills. Tpp sessions are held every alternate saturdays from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm and the management is quite strict about these sessions. Students having less then 90% attendance in these sessions get debarred from tpp. Till the time of filling the form one industrial visit are organized for the students.

Placement Experience

95% of the students are placed. The highest package offered is 32 Lacs, the lowest package offered 4 Lacs and the average package offered is 5 Lacs. The top recruiting companies are Microsoft, Google, Wipro, etc. The students got an internship in Microsoft, Google, Wipro, IBM. Good companies provide god jobs. 45 percent of the students got an internship. For students who have to participate in recruitment drives, students have to choose tpp in their 5th semester. College Events

4

There are many events celebrate in university. Some of the events are CUFest, Freshers party, tashan nights, sunburn. These are basically cultural events. In CUFest students from all over India come to Cu to participate in the cultural event. Freshers party are basically held for the new students. CUFest and Freshers party are hosted once every year. Tashan nights are basically college level event in which student from our college dance and sing songs along with some celebrities. Some of the technical events are Hackathaon, hosting seminars on regular basis, conducting Amcat exams etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Chandigarh University provides affordable fee structure for B.tech in all the streams. The fee structure for B.Tech is as follows. Semester fee - Rs. 80000/- Uniform Fee - Rs. 2500/- (One Time) Refundable Security - Rs. 1500/- (One Time) Exam Fee - Rs. 2000/- (Semester Wise) CU Fest - Rs. 500/- (Annually) And yes there is full transparency in the fee breakdown. Two reciepts are generated by the accounts department of CU. One is offline i.e hard copy and other one is soft copy. Fees can be submitted in both online and offline mode. Facility of RTGS is also availabe. It's up to the students how they want to submit their fee.

Fees and Financial Aid

I've taken education loan and the process is very simple. You just have to visit loan office situated in Block 9 of main campus and ask them for bonafide certificate and fee structure. After that you have to give those two documents aforementioned to the bank and do all the process of bank and they will sanction you loan. Loan amount will be sent to college account by bank and then you have to go Block 3 accounts department. There you have to fill information regarding the payment like amount, account no of college in which money has been sent etc and give it to the counter and that's it. Now coming to scholarship, you can avail scholarships upto 50% on academics depending on your class 12th score or your score in the entrance exam.

Campus Life

4.5

Chandigarh University has a very very lively campus with students from all over the country and from foreign countries too. The diversity and their individual personalities create an enriched atmosphere. People are open to debate and discussion and are mostly gender sensitive. You'll find all kinds of people here, that's what makes it a real learning experience. College has more than 20 societies for which however you will have to go spend extra time in college. Whatever interests you have, rest assured you can join a society and meet like minded people. For recreation purpose, we have games club where we sit back and play. There is also free WiFi in our college.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Yes, i had opted for the hostel facilities. The facillites university hostel provide are very good. They provide 5 seater to single seater room. The house keeping is been done everyday and also the food provide in mess is also of good quality. In mess they provide four time meal. Hostel fee are 77000 for 5 seater and 85000 for 4 seater, my suggestion is to choose 5 seater beacuse they are less expensive and have good facilities. The rooms are well furnished and there are facilities for drinking water and duct cooling for summers. The rooms are cleaned by university appointed maid staff as housekeeping incharge. The rooms are entirely cleaned by moving all the furniture every semester end.

Alumni/Alumna

Well they are very supportive and they always guides us about what to do and what to avoid. Even our college organizes events every six months in which some senior students and alumni share their experiences.

Admission

I had got my admission on the basis of 10th and 12th score. However, now the scheme has changed. Now, the students have to pass a University exam known CUCAT, which also helps them secure a good scholarship. I registered their online form for admission and got a call from them in a few days. They ask me about my field of interest in Computer science i asked them to kindly give me cse with specialization in AI and ML but they said seats are already full for both the courses so i was allotted without in cse without any specialization subject. The admission team will explain you each and every things related to admission process and also their is a counselling process face to face with their experts which helps you to choose the write course and branch. Filled up the basic admission forms with a proof of my identity and other documents such as mark sheets. The basic structure is also very simple and great which helps here to interact with the hierarchy easily.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty of the college is highly informative and knowledgeable. The college has one of the best faculties in CU for Engineering. From the core subjects to the electives the teachers are highly qualified and never cease to help students in any matter be it related to academics future prospects or personal issues. There were Assignments and semester exams for the very semester. The courses offered were difficult and demanded proper attention in lectures. The number of lectures in a day with the addition to involvement in societies left me very tired every day but with proper time management both could be balanced efficiently. For those who didn't get involved in extracurricular activities, the days were a bit less tiring for them. The curriculum is detailed and deeply engaging.CU has a number of societies and cells where a student can join and shape er personality over the course of 4 years in college.

Placement Experience:

The student become eligible for campus placements from 5th semester. The companies visited per year are approximately 200. They claim 100% placements but in reality they divide students into placement and non- placement batches called tpp and ntpp. If you slip up even once, you will be debarred from the tpp group. The highest package is 53 LPA. The average package is 4.5 LPA. Companies like JP Morgan, TCS, Capgemini, PlaySimple, Cognizant, Nokia, Philips, Morgan Stanley, PWC, KPMG, EPAM, Watchguard, High radius, OYO, Coding Ninjas, Samsung, etc have already came. More companies are yet to come. Since the student intake is too much, placements are really hard to get since there is too much competition. In the end, people get hired in mass recruitment companies and get minimum pay of 3-4 lpa. My plans are apply for off-campus jobs and start working in corporate after the degree. If I don't get a job, I haven't decided what I will do next.
