Remarks

Positive- 1. Good for placements. 2. Good co-curricular activities. 3. Nice infrastructure. Negative- 1. No focus on real learning. 2. Faculty only sees its futures and not thinks about students. 3. Delayed funding for projects.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

It was a chilled kind of environment. The course structure was not that difficult. Also, the faculty focused more on how to pass the exam and grab the marks rather than gaining the knowledge. But we can't argue, it's the same everywhere. So if one has to really learn something, he needs to be off the curriculum. But yes everybody was helpful even the faculty. As they helped with the attendance. By the way, College provided our numerous amount of opportunities to explore ourselves through co curricular activities.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placements at CGC Landran is one of the factors that why it has a large amount of crowd. We had a joint campus placement at our college. Mainly three colleges- Chandigarh University, Chandigarh Group of Colleges Landran and Chandigarh Group of Colleges Jhanjheri participated in it. The placements season started in May 2019 for us and a good number of companies visited. Most of them were either for IT services or for sales. But there was a good number of companies and the package the delivered was also quite good. The minimum package was 3 LPA AND MAXIMUM WAS 33 LPA (GOOGLE). Other companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Goldmann sacs and many big names visited. Top MNC like Wipro Cognizant, Mindtree etc also visited. Cognizant is providing a stipend of 12000 out of which 1200 will be deducted as tax.

College Events

4

We had PARIVARTAN as a national level techno-cultural fest every year. There were a number of participants participating in them which were from various other colleges. We also had Tatva and Radio day which were the fests of our department in which we invited the whole college and also the polytechnic colleges surrounding the neighbouring states to participate.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Every semester you have to pay 43000. And for the examination, you need to pay 1250 every sem. Other than that they will charge an additional 600 every year for Parivartan. And if you are a hosteller you need to pay a minimum of 80000 per annum for a 4 sharing room in the hostel including food. But for electricity charges, I never knew how they calculated it and asked it from us. It was included in fine. Also during the course, CGC has a Training and Placement program that is designed to help the students to grab placements. This will require an additional payment of 6000 in two instalments.

Fees and Financial Aid

I don't have informs about it as I wasn't on scholarship as well as on loan. But yes people had applied for a scholarship in government organisations where they had to prove every semester that they are clearing the semester with no backlogs.

Campus Life

3.5

College provided us with the extracurricular activities that are required to develop oneself. And all of them were organised in the college. We had yoga day, Vijay divas and various activities that took place from time to time to develop a student.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The hostels are the best places to stay during college time. There were multiple options for rooms - 2 sharing and 4 sharing. All of them charged differently for 4 sharing they charged 75000 per annum and there were some hidden electricity charges also. For 2 sharing it was about 85000. The hostel rooms were good and we're well maintained.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, the college does provide us with an opportunity to get in touch with the alumni's and learn about the real market scenario so that we can get prepared for the placements. There were alumni meetings and gatherings with the students and students asked them a lot of questions which they answered and told us about the scenario in the companies.

Admission

I found this college in an advertisement in a newspaper. I quickly started finding the whereabouts of the college and searched the internet and also consulted from various seniors. Everyone was giving a positive reply and I was interested in Computer Science but couldn't choose it because seats were already full. Then I choosed Electronics and Communication in the same college. The admission process was simply at first I have to pay a registration fee and after that when I had reserved a seat for me I needed to go to college and pay the first semester fees with 3 thousand additional amount for counselling the say. And this is it I Can begin with my course. They take our documents for about 1 year and then return them after a period of time.

Faculty

3

The faculty at ECE Chandigarh Group of Colleges Landran is well qualified. You can find that every course taught to you is by a Doctorate of Philosophy. But talking about if interested in teaching, it all depends upon how students are reacting. Meanwhile, if the professor really wants to teach he will call you in his cabin and then provide you with the real knowledge that you are looking for. But in the class, they will talk only about what's in the curriculum, not more than that.

Placement Experience:

Students start becoming eligible for campus placements from the sixth semester, and that’s when most training sessions for aptitude, coding and soft skills also begin. The placement cell is active throughout the year and brings in a mix of product-based, service-based and mid-tier tech companies. The number of offers varies every year, but CSE-related branches usually get the highest share of opportunities. Companies come for roles like software trainee, analyst, QA, support engineering and web development, so there’s a good spread of entry-level roles.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

The placement of our college is good but its lack to bring big names but overall it's 3 out of 5 as it's basically focus on bringing software companies but our stream is of electronics so we donot have that much knowledge about coding so we lack to get placed this is the only disadvantage of the placement cell here

In Chitkara university a good number of companies visited like Microsoft, google and they provide 100+ offerletters. 85-90 % students get placed in Chitkara university. After getting degree I firstly join to the company .

Placement Experience:

There is an option for students to opt for placements from campus in our university and if we seect that option we are given special training by the university it self in fields which we think we are weak. That include technical and non technical fields like soft skills. University also ties up with other triaining companis to train us in better way by calling tutors from outside the campus for teaching us. Over all if we consider we are already well trained by university to sit for on campus placements and we usually get a good paying job which also helps us to gain more knowledge and improve ourself.
