Remarks

The hostel and college infrastructure are a little poor compared to other colleges but it is expected with the minimal fees given. There are a lot of festivals and programs and a healthy political atmosphere. The non violent conflicts between the two opposing parties lead to good development in the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is a bit tight scheduled. We dont get much off days and there are lots to study. We have 9 semesters in the span of 4. 5 years. University exams are conducted in the end of the academic year. Internal assessments are conducted year round.

Placement Experience

4.5

The college provides one year internship with stipend. There is no campus placement. We should apply on our own. There is option for pg if we crack the entrance. Pg also comes with a stipend. We can get into govt. jobs if we crack PSC exams.

College Events

4.5

Interbatch arts competitions, annual carnival, college day, mini carnival for first years We also go for intercollege arts and sports and come in the top 2 most of the time. "Curios" fest is done every year for institute of palliative care of our college. Small events like teachers day are celebrated with performers.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is very feasible. We have Rs. 25000 annual fees. We give 10000 as PTA fund on the time of admission. Books for a year cost around 5000. Hostel fees is Rs. 10000 per year for stay, food cost is seperate-Rs 75 per day

Fees and Financial Aid

There is various scholarships for Other backward castes for fee reduction. Hostel fees for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students are free. There is no other specific scholarships as such.

Campus Life

3.5

Gender ratio is almost 1:1. Free coaching facilities are given for sports like basketball, volleyball, football etc. There is a gym facility seperate for each sex. The college has a good attitude towards homosexuality. Politics is very strong but there is no violent conflicts as such. There are annual athletic meets

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Infrastructure of hostels are quite average. Room is shared between 5 students. Room size is average. There is not much space to move around. There is no curfew time for males. But females need to get back before 9:30pm. PG students get single room hostel. It is gender mixed for them

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is very helpful in getting us informed about the various programs and charity events conducted in our college. Our seniors give us occational classes before exams if asked to. They also help us on our seminars and assignments.

Admission

Got in by cracking neet. Applied to this college through keralacee site. No interview was required. I have always dreamed of becoming a doctor since a young age. I chose this course due to the stability of getting a job and the servicing attitude of the job.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty are well qualified. They are doctors. They are very enthusiastic in teaching us. Most of them offer good quality lectures. The profeesors have multiple degrees. They have years of teaching experience.

Even though a bit tight and rushy, this is in fact the best curriculum provided and followed by all medical colleges in kerala. The frequency of exam is high and difficulty level is as same as that of KUHS. This provides relevant experience for the students to weite the university exams

The course is a bit tough rather than other courses (professional courses) MBBS is a 4 year course with 1 year compulsory internship dealing with a total of 13-4 subject over the 4 years The curriculum prepares us for the real world experiecne but more often the clinical subjects aim in patuent student interaction that overall help in the achievemnt of professionalism The frequency if exams are very high as there needs to be regular revision of subjects in order to prepare for the finals and perfect in all clinical theory and oractical aspects

Kerala University of Health Sciences - [KUHS], Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
Reviewed on Nov 30, 2024(Enrolled 2021)

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is of high relevance as it ensures that the student learns everything he need to learn in an mbbs life to become a good doctor. The curriculum we are now following is decided by the National Medical Council (NMC) of India and is CBME curriculum. The curriculum include many Self directed learning methods and small group discussions etc which makes the learning interesting and easy. The curriculum definitely prepares the students to become a good doctor in future. Some minute improvements are still required like no need of these many SGDs for community medicine and forensic. It'll be better to include more field activities in community medicine . The frequency and timing of exams are sometimes a burden for the students as the exams are so close and they are not getting enough time to improve themselves which may affect their confidence. Sometimes the exams are scheduled in between some meets conducted by university which makes it difficult for the students to participate.
