The college was established on 1st november, 1978. Vice chancellor is Ashok kr. Sarial. University is accredited by Indian council of agricultural research. Ranked 11th among 75 ICAR institutes of India.

Course Curriculum Overview

Courses in agriculture, vety and animal sciences, home science, basic sciences, agricultural engineering, horticulture and agroforestry, entomology, animal nutrition, microbiology, fishery are available. There are almost 20 courses.

Placement Experience

There is almost no placement available in this college. If any company come for placement , they provide low salaries. But there are a number of job opportunities in the field of research, banking, lecturership etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

B.sc. agriculture courses cost around 2 lakhs, course duration is of four years. B.sc. in physical sciences cost 1.25 lakhs couerse duration is of 3 years. B.tech. in agriculture engineering is also available. Fee is quite affordable for anyone.

Campus Life

Various days like sports day, yoga day, teacher's day etc are celebrated every year. The college actively participates in inter college sports tournaments for cricket, badminton, football etc. Labs are properly maintained. Most of the students are from north India.

Admission

I had given ICAR examination and got admission in this college through counselling process. The admission process is smooth. One has to show intermediate certificates and marksheet to complete the admission process.

Faculty

The faculty members are cooperative and helpful. They are well qualified in their respective fields. They are always ready to help the students. They help the students in seminars and workshops. Counsellings and doubt sessions are held by them from time to time.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because I liked horticulture .This course is very well applied in real world in cultivation and growing of vegetables, fruits and flowers and horticulture also has job opportunities in private sector. There are some improvements like more practical learning, real world exposure etc. that could be made to make this course more effecgive in real world application. The exams are conducted per semester and the difficulty level of exams is average.

Tit bits about the agriculture university

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course as my father had studied the same course and had the same profession that I'm aiming for. For improvements i would like to recommend more practicals rather than theory classes as, practical knowledge is just as important as theoretical knowledge. The frequency of exams is a problem. There is very less gap between examinations which makes it difficult to prepare for the vast subjects. Plus, the marking is strict, and the criteria to pass the exams are also complicated.

I applied for icar reservation through CUET examination through which I had a confirmed admission in GADVASU Ludhiana but, i preferred CSKHPKV, Palampur because it is loacted in my hometown and it has the course i was willing to take.
