Remarks
As such, there isn't any negative remarks to the college. However, I wish there were more competitions or opportunities available for its students to showcase their talents. Nevertheless, the university in overall is a great one providing top class education with a strong based faculty members.
Course Curriculum Overview
I particularly took this course because I always had a keen interest towards technologies and programming. The first year course curriculum is basically theory based. From the second year, the course becomes more systematic and scoring as practicals are included. Exams are held semester wise so much pressure isn't created on the students.
Placement Experience
NEHU has a Counselling and Placement Cell that works on receiving the best companies in the industry to come to the college for recruitments. It is also responsible to conduct practice interviews, aptitude sessions, workshops, and seminars. The University has tie-ups with various companies and is frequently visited by various companies for training and workshops. All the students need is to maintain attendance, be attentive in class and maintain good grades and be smart enough to learn as well as explain the things they have learned till date.
College Events
Various worshops will take place in 2020, for which the calendar has already been prepared. Some of then are - Workshop on application of statistics in social sciences, National symposium on recent trends in zoological sciences, AICTE training and learning workshop on 3D painting & design etc. and many more.
Fee Structure And Facilities
This particular course is for four years and the fee structure for the first year is Rs.4,820/- and the fee structure for the rest three years is Rs.3,920/- , which is amounting to Rs.16,580/- at the end of four years. The fee structure is obviously feasible as related to technology field.
Fees and Financial Aid
The university provides these scholarships - Scholarships for meritorious pass-out students having Honours in their degree and have secured a minimum of 55% marks and are currently pursuing postgraduate courses. Also, financial assistance to poor and deserving students is provided under ‘Students Aid Fund’ for payment of tuition, examination, hostel fees and other expenses. And lastly, Junior Research fellowship for men upto 35 years and women upto 45 years of age.
Campus Life
Numerous functions take place or are celebrated in the university of which the major events celebrated are - Fresher's Party, Farewell party, Teachers' day and Tech fest. The events are of great fun and enjoyment and especially DJ nights are conducted in the evening of fresher's party. To keep up the enthusiasm of the fellow students, sport activities are also held in the campus.
Hostel Facilities
There are altogether 8 hostels provided by the college divided for undergraduate women and post graduates women - Lasubon flower hall of residence, Nohsngithiang falls hall of residence, Miktoksi flower hall of residence, Persara Hall of residence, Umiam Hall of residence, Syntuksiar hall of residence, Pahsyntiew hall of residence and Saramati hall of residence. Hostel fees are taken separately and a part of the total amount is refundable at the time of leaving the hostel.
Alumni/Alumna
W.M.S. Pariat is the former Chief Secretary, alumni of NEHU who belonged to the first batch of the English Deparment. The first chapter of NEHU Alumni Association was scripted on September 19 after around four decades to the formation of the North Eastern Hill University in 1973. The alumni network is very strong and it focuses on sharing various experiences and knowledges among the college students.
Admission
Candidates should have passed 10+2 in any discipline from a recognized board and are then eligible to apply for admission to BA and B.Sc programs. For the course of B.Tech, minimum eligibility marks required is 45% marks (40% for SC/ST candidates) in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Applicants can fill up the application form available in the college's own website.
Faculty
Faculty members of the technology department includes - Prof. Goutam Saha,Dr. Md. Iftekhar Hussain,Dr. Bubu Bhuyan,Dr. Hemanta Kumar Kalita,Dr. Debdatta Kandar,Dr. A. K. Maji and few others who show great interest in teaching this particular course as they belong from the same field. All have acheived degrees and are eligible to impart education on this field.
