What Students Say

Likes

The campus is spread with lots of trees. It is a lush green campus and the weather is good throughout the year.
The professors are very friendly and helpful. They help a lot with projects and internships
Lots of cultural activities in which we can participate

Dislikes

The campus is a bit small. We can cover the whole campus within 15 mins
It's always raining in shillong so yeah it becomes uneasy to travel here and there
The class rooms are a bit small and needs to be improved

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is very relevant. As I am a Electrical and electronics engineering student. The core subjects include power system, electrical machines, instrumentation, vlsi, etc. These are all covered properly.

Class Size: 30Course Fees: INR 222000 per year

Internships Opportunities

We have a lots of internship opportunities inour college. The placement cell in our college continuously works with industries to bring moreand more internships for the students. Most of the companies are Tata, TCS, Jindal, L&T etc.

Placement Experience

Due to recession the campus placements are not that good like earlier years. This year the Highest package was offered by Amazon to only one student of CSE department. The package was offered 43 lacs per annum. Rest of the students got a package of 12-15 lacs per annum. The average package was 6-8 lacs per annum. The overall percentage of placement was nearly 88 percent.

Fees and Financial Aid

Well the fee structure is like... For gen the fees is 1.12 lacs per semester and for sc/St or ews students scholarships are there. For instance, the fees for a sc/St student has a reduction of 62500 rupees.

Campus Life

Till now it's been two years since I have joined the college. In these two years I have enjoyed a lot. We have Cultural fest and technical fest in out college. The cultural fest is known as Shishir and the technical fest is known as Cognitia. We also have annual cricket, football and basketball tournaments. We have lots of books in the library almost 40000. The major clubs in our college include robotics club, dance club, literary club, photography club, etc

Hostel Facilities

The hostel is decent . Our hostel is mostly like a flat where in each room two students live. We have a bed, a study table , a chair and a locker. The message food is also very decent. Overall the hostel experience is good.

Hostel Fee: INR 50000 per year

Admission

The admission process was very easy. The admission was done through JoSAA and CSAB portals of the government. The sear was given onthe basis of JEE Mains and Advanced ranks. Overall the admission process was a little bit time consuming.

Faculty

4.5

Well the facilities in the college are highly skilled and knowledgeable. Most of them have done their PhD from reputed IITs of the country. They also encourage us to do projects and increase our field of interest. I always interact with my faculties to get their feedback.

Placement Experience:

Placements of our college is average , The average package is almost 400000 per annum. I will prefer to take placements from outside campus by own. U may also go for further studies after the degree. My plans are too take placement from outside.

A Glimpse Into Life At NIT Meghalaya

Placement Experience:

In the 6th semester, the students become eligible for campus placements. There are many companies who want the 7th-semester student to sit in their placement process. The name of the companies are as follows: Infosys 4 offers L&T 5 offers Google 2 offers POWERGRID 2 offers Etc Approximately 71 % of students got placement in many companies. I will do farming after getting my degree.

Placement Experience:

Yes placement's are there because it's a NIT From 3rd semester you are eligibile to apply for internship and from 7 sem you are also eligible for campus placements Many companies visit our campus for the placements some famous names of coma pansies are adobe amazon flipkart Mahindra infosys tata black rock etc and the no of offers made differ each year but the average of offers remains 150plus Highest package of our college is 51 LPA Which is bagged by a cs girl this year from Amazon and the average package also differ by the branches but for mechanics and cs branch a the average package is as good as 10LPA Percentage of students greeting placed is very good for the mechanical and cs branch like 95% placements are there and for others branches also 70% placements is there So placements is not a big issue in this college ???? My plans are simple Mai have to maintains a good ointer to be eligible for campus placements and get a good job and settle in life

A Totally Honest Review for those hoping to get enrolled in NIT Meghalaya

Placement Experience:

The student become eligible for the placements from the 7th semester. There are various national, international and PSU companies offering job opportunities with Microsoft, TATA, GOOGLE, Vedanta Limited, HCL, to name a few. Highest package offeres is 80LPA offered to a student from Computer Science department from Amazon Company with a whopping average package of 50-60LPA every year and 60% of overall students getting placed 20-25% opting out for further studies and the remaining not being placed. I plan on pursuing further studies and getting enrollment in research programs.

IN my institute the placements for mechaical department is very good .The overall average package is 12 lack per annum . And highest package this year was 55 LPA for CSE but it was off campus placement.The average package for CSE department is around 15 lacks per annum.

Good Environment Good culture Good future

Placement Experience:

The campus of the university is overall average. We get packages around 10 LPA but mostly students opt for heigher studies as only 10 -20 percent of students successfully get placed My plans are for masters in technology after the degree . So as I tell this a government college particularly NIT so admission in this is done by giving a exam called JEE which is conducted by NTA twice in a year most commonly in January and April So after getting a good percentile in this JEE exam you are all ready for conselling done by JOSSA and CSAB Admission are done in these college according to your percentile and All India ranks The eligibility for this exam is you need to be 12 th pass with any recognised Baoard with 75% Cutoff for this exam you can find on inemternet as this a very popular exams given by 15Lac student every year and only 50thouasand student able to get seat So in counselling you have to fill colleges of tour choice and the counselling system allot you a college according to your performance in JEE exam I have fill some other nits like NIT GOA NIT JAIPUR NIT HAMIRPUR NIT NAGPUR but these are the college I didn't get because of my rank in jee exam All went that wrong is my preparation for the exam ???? I didn't apply to any other college as I was solely focused in the present college.
