Remarks

Jai Hind creates a very vibrant and positive college atmosphere that is conducive to learning and participating actively in whatever goes on. The management is student-friendly, and I believe that issues can be resolved through a dialogue.

Entrance Preview

I appeared for the BMM entrance examination and the score on the test would account for about 25% of the total marking. I scored about 85-90% on this test.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course was divided into 6 semesters - each semester had 6 subjects. In 3 years, we covered history, psychology, market research, organisational behaviour, principles of advertising, political science, effective communication skills, brand building, understanding cinema etc.

Internships Opportunities

The college was not very actively involved in sourcing internships for us. We were, however, updated about opportunities sporadically. I interned on the sets of a daily soap, and I wasn't paid anything. I got this internship through someone in the family.

Placement Experience

2.5

Again, you have to search for jobs independently, it's been 8 years now, so I'm finding it hard to remember the names of companies that came to campus, but there weren't too many.

College Events

4.5

We have the Social and Dramatic Union (SDU), and they organise SHOUTT (SHOw Us The Talent). This is an intra-college festival. We did not have a festival for inter-college participation, as far as I can recall.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure was feasible at my time. I think we paid somewhere between 10,000-15,000 every year. This was inclusive of sessions for both semesters.

Fees and Financial Aid

Can't seem to recall any. But outstanding students did receive a certificate and appreciation every semester.

Campus Life

3

Our class had a strength of about 60 students, 11 of which were boys. So the gender ratios were skewed. We did not have accommodation on campus, and the students who came from outside of Bombay, had to find accommodation for themselves. There was a high tolerance regarding gender, ethnicity, race, religion, and sexual orientation even, I would say.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

I can't comment on this since we did not have hostel facilities. I think you should make these questions optional.

Alumni/Alumna

College seniors were quite friendly and made us comfortable in the first few weeks. I don't remember any particular issues cropping up during our interactions, and remember having sharing a healthy rapport with them.

Exam Structure

We had exams every semester, and also presentations, assignments, and group projects that accounted for a chunk of the marks. Attendance is very important at Jai Hind, and 30 marks were allocated for being there through all the lectures. Days ranged from being chilled out to extremely hectic, depending on the deadlines that were coming up.

Faculty

4

We had in-house as well as visiting faculty. The overall teaching standards maintained by both were excellent. We did face a few hiccups during our popular culture class because of the professor, however, those issues were resolved the next year.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course. It helped me in my personality building and also I learned new things like- Video and photo editing, handling cameras, communication skills, Acting, Advertisement writing and shooting, and many more. Class strength is good as they allow 25-30 students for one course. Faculties were too supportive and masters of their own fields. They take 2 internals and 1 final exam at the end of the semester which is of 6 months.

I chose this course because I want to be in the film industry. I want to become an actor. This course helps us to get aware of all the media industries. Be it films or television or even radio. Now, there are even more fields such as Public Relations and Event Management. There is an almost equal number of girls and boys. The faculty have industry experience and are well-spoken. They help us in each and every way possible. The use of presentations and modules is common. The learning process is fun and easy. The examinations are conducted in a semester pattern. There are a total of 6 semesters that are conducted on time. The syllabus covers a wide range of topics such as communication, films, photography, etc.

Form third year students become eligible for campus placement. Many reputed companies like times of India hindustan times visited our college and got various students selected based on their caliber. The average package here is a around 5-10 Lakh per annum. Only those students who are talented enough for any post get selected for particular job. I'm planning to do a internship in popular media House.
