Remarks
Everything is good about the college except that the patient variety is less and the people working in the administration are not at all student friendly. The biggest disadvantage is the post MBBS service bond.
Course Curriculum Overview
The teachers are good and take great interest in teaching the students. Research scope is less. Frequent exams and semesters were conducted in the college much more in comparison to other state medical college s.
Placement Experience
Internship in various departments is provided and is compulsory for all. It is a one year paid internship with 23.5 k monthly stipend. Internship experience is good with great seniors who are always ready to help, but patients are less as only the insured persons receive treatment over here.
College Events
The students organise various events which include an annual fest, saraswati pija, sports week, republic day, independance day, freshers party, farewell. An annual convocation ceremony is held in ESIC auditorium in Salt Lake.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Earlier it was 24k yearly but now it has become 1lac per year and 24k for IP students respectively. There was a service bond of five years for all with a fine of 7.5 lacs but now it is valid only for IP students and the bond has been reduced to 3 years and 10 lacs fine.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are no such scholarship or loan facilities made available by the college only the one offered by the government for minorities and girl child are accepted. I had not availed of any such scholarship.
Campus Life
Laboratories are well equiped, games room is there with a carrom board and table tennis facilities. Open space for playing cricket and badminton is also there. Students of both genders are almost there in equal numbers.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel infrastructure is very good. There are separate boys and girls hostel with each having 16 floors. Each floor has 4 wings and each wing has 8 rooms. Each student is given a single room with an attached balcony. It is one of the best hostels possible in any medical college of Kolkata.
Alumni/Alumna
We are the first batch to pass out from this college hence we did not have any seniors but as batches will keep passing steps to form a good alumni network will be taken so that the upcoming batches do not face the problems that we had faced.
Admission
I had to appear in NEET UG and qualify it to get admission in this college. Admission in this course is thourough AIQ, state quota and insured person quota. In case insured persons quota the wards of IPs who have qualified the exam are admitted thourough an interview process.
Faculty
The teachers are highly qualified and take great interest to teach the students and ensure that they are studying properly by conducting multiple exams thourough out the year. Regular class tests, semesters and professional exams along with practical exams are conducted.
