Sreekanth P's Review On National Institute Of Technology - [NITC], Calicut

The college requires more infrastructure at hostels similar to newly built classrooms to make the hostel accommodation convenient for students.

AIEEE rank 7600 and college NIT calicut was located in my home state kerala and therefore i chose NIT calicut over other colleges.

The course structure is excellent first year all branch students are having same curriculum covering basics of engineering in all fields, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, Civil, Electronics etc.

Amazon, Yahoo, Microsoft, Google, GoldmanSachs, GE came for internship opportunities for 3rd year students and the stipend offered was 1Lakh for 3 months internship.

Amazon, Yahoo, Microsoft, Google, GoldmanSachs, GE, Qualcomm, Amdocs, L&T, ONGC, IOCL, BPCL, NTPC, Virtusa, Capgemini, Tata Motors, Sapien, SAP and IT companies visited the campus. The offered packages were around 8-10Lacs CTC for almost all companies. Only few companies had package below 8Lacs.

Tatva is the Techfest of NIT Calicut which has participation of more than 200 colleges and 2000+ participants and is one the best techfest in the country. The cultural fest is "Ragam" which is second most best cultural fest in South India after IITM's "Saarang". The participation is similar to Techfest and Proshows are also conducted during the event.

The loans were not availed during the B.tech course at NIT Calicut the fees were around 10Ks for each semester which was affordable. Now the fees have been increase to 40Ks which may require taking loans from nearby bank. SBI bank situated very close(walking distance) i think they do offer loans for students at NIT Calicut.

The gender ratio is 10-20% females in each branch the diversity is like 50% keralites and 50% rest of India. The ragging activities are strictly banned in the college the student political bodies/organizations are also banned which made college campus worth studyng. The infrastructure is also awesome the college receives better fund from central government similar to IITs which is really used to improve infrastructure at college.

The hostels are A,B,C,D,F,F",G,PG. The Hostels are of two categories few constructed in 80s and others were constructed few years back. The hostels are situated within the campus. The accomodation is generally 4 or 5 in a room however,in final year, individual rooms are allotted to students.

The alumni network is really great we have a dedicated website for alumni interactions get-togethers are arranged on yearly basis to improve the alumni network.

The faculty is highly qualified having Ph.Ds from reputed IITs and IISc.
