Remarks

College has many positives and a few negatives. On a whole we can learn a lot by being part of IIIT Bhubaneswar may it be from faculties or from seniors or PhD students or may it be friends. The college environment is positive and the campus is small but beautiful.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course structure is in line with the curriculum designed by AICTE. The labs are engaging and always keep students busy with some or the other activities such as reviewing research papers, making students write or make projects, giving us assignment and in many other ways. The mid-sem exams are hectic as we've two exam a day in mid-sem but end semester exam are less of a hectic as compared to mid-sem.

Placement Experience

2.5

Almost all the students get placed from our college. But there are some defaulters as there are in every college. The highest salary package offered this year was 42.5 LPA, and it was offered by Microsoft (but that was off-campus). On-campus, the highest salary package offered was 15 LPA. The lowest salary package offered was around 3.5 LPA. The average salary package offered was around 5.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies that visited our college are Turtlemint, Dell, Quantiphi, Cognizant, Infosys, Tiger Analytics, IBM and a few more. For internship their are very few options such as Dell. Most of the student here apply for off campus internship opportunity.

College Events

3.5

Our college organises Advaita which annual Techno-cult fest of our college. It is one of the biggest fest in Odisha. Students of our college take an initiative of organising and conducting events. We've many technical events ranging from ro otic to programming and a large number of cultural events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Although the feasibility of fees is a relative thing and this answer depends on person to person but according to me the fees is feasible and is around 2 lac pa including the hostel and all the other charges.

Fees and Financial Aid

The loan facility is available and related details are being delivered on the very first day itself. Although I've not opted for loan neither I get any sort of scholarship. Still college provides scholarship to some students based on their criteria and banks provide loans to students who ask for and are eligible for.

Campus Life

4

The male to female ratio is 5 to 1 and events are organised on special occasions such as holi, diwali, dushera, farewell, fresher's and on some more occasion. Their are many societies and student can be part of any of them depending on their interest. Students are sports enthusiasts and sports fest's are organised in our college also students organise sports events at regular interval. Also, student bodies conducts many different workshop throughout the year.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Yes, I have opted for hostel. The hostels are good and cleanliness of hostel is given very high priority. The hostel fees is included in the overall fees but it depends upon what type of room you opt for. There are single, double, triple and 4 bedded rooms. The charge is accordingly. For single room: 20k per semester, For double room: 15k per semester, For 3 and 4 bedded room: 10k per semester.

Alumni/Alumna

Currently the alumni network is not that strong but our college has a huge potential on that aspect. This year onward placement cell has taken a step to make an alumni network which can help forming a network among alumni and students. Seniors are very helpful and we learn a lot from them.

Admission

The admission criteria at IIIT Bhubaneswar is based on JEE-MAINS marks. I got options in other colleges but I wanted to pursue my engineering in field of IT/CSE and the best available government college which offered me related branch on my rank was IIIT Bhubaneswar. The criteria of selection is purely based on percentile in JEE Mains and includes some reservations as per JOSAA.

Faculty

4

Faculties are well qualified and are having good knowledge in their field and are also very helping. Most of the faculties are interested in their subject. Still I think their is great scope of improvement in the department of CSE.

Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University - [SOA], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Jan 9, 2026(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

I actually have a very little idea about placements of our uni few seniors says there is not a single company visiting, while few were discussing the highest placement which was something like 20lpa or something,i think companies do visit our campus it may not be much but i have definetly seen one or two companies visiting. I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.

Gandhi Engineering College (GEC Autonomous), Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Dec 22, 2025(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.
