NIFT Mumbai Review

The best part about this college is the events and the facilities they provide. We never get bored in the campus as it has very cheerful, fresh and green environment one would love to stay in. Talking about the negative part, the AC is too low temperature to bear. It would have been great if the college provided internships since third year with more luxury brands than that of the startups.

The degree course is of four years. First is the foundation year where your basics are built up. Later you belong to a department of your choice of interest. And I feel the curriculum is best suited and well planned overall.

I am currently in third year. And yes our college do provide internships with stipends. But also if we have other plans to do elsewhere then we are free to. This is like an opportunity we can never miss and make the full out of it. Everyone enjoys the internships as there is more of application based learning straight ibto the industry or company in our intrest areas.

We have spectrum and converge that is our college fests. That has dj eve, fashion show, games, photo booths, sponsors, gifts, stalls and much more. Apart from that our college celeberates every occassion and festival in campus.

The fees for four year degree goes upto 12. 5 - 13 lakhs. Around 3 lakhs per year i. e. 1. 5 per semester approximately. Excluding the stationary, essentials, fabrics, etc. that we have to spend on. The fees are expensive but then considerably college provides many facilities, hygienic space, AC classrooms and faculty guests that feel worth it.

Scholarship is a great strategy of NIFT. It allows students from humble backgrounds like OBC, SC, ST, etc. For subsidized fee at all the campuses. Many students have been benefited by this scheme provided by the college and work hard to make full of it. One is SARTHAK - NIFT ginancial assistance scheme. Other is UDAAN - NIFT means-cum merit scheme for foreign studies.

We have extra curricular activities in the curriculum and otherwisr too. We have a general elective subject optional that has many activities like singing, dancing, nature walk, modelling, languages, yoga, zumba, magic and many more to choose from. It feels refreshed and energetic with these subjects. Also after college many students come for evening sport practices to participate in inter college competitions.

No I haven't opted for hostel and live in a flat nearby. The hostel is well built with amazing Infrastructure. Have a reception, library with books, magazines, TV and computers. A gym with essentials, laundry room with washing machines and iron tables, a mess, balconies, lift, emergency exits, fire alarms, smoke detectors, terrace. You can opt for a dormitory or two sharing rooms that are available in both AC and NON AC.

Many alumini and senior students come for interactions and guest lectures. Tell us about internships, design interests, finding and figuring out areas of interests. Senior students are always helpful here in any situation.

I had my intrest in creative side that made me come here. We gave a two step entrance exam of NIFT that is available on the website. One is a written test that tests your qualitative thinking using GK questions and reasonings. With that they test your art skills by drawing test. Once you clear this round. You get appointed to any of the nearest centres for the situation test where you have to build up a 3d model using the materials they provide. Testing your time utilizing skills. You get your merit rank. Based on your rank you get to choose the centre of your choice. Lower the rank, first priority to him/her to choose.

The faculty is very helpful and guiding very well on every other step. You can choose your mentor whom you feel comfortable with and they will guide you till the end. Some contructive cruticisms they believe in. With lastest trends and industrial development they are as updated. There are any guest faculties for every subject coming from industries and also the alumini for special lectures.
