Good College and environment.

Remarks :

The college management offers full support to the students. They always find time to address the problems of students and provide proper solutions. They always support us for all the extracurricular activities.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The teaching staff provides good training to the students. They also take extra effort to ensure that the students are able to apply the theoretical knowledge that they have gained from the classes. They also organize industrial visits so that the students get to know more about the working of an industry. They also train us to improve our skills to become a good employee.

Placement Experience :

Students are given placement training from the first year onwards by providing different workshops internships. There are weekly meetings held to address the doubts of students. About 40% of the students get placed every year from college. The recruitment drive mainly consists of three steps 1) written test 2) technical interview 3) HR interview

College Events :

The different events that take place in our college are Gurutwa ( tech fest), sports meet, arts fest, food fest, festival celebrations(Onam, Christmas, Holi). The tech fest Gurutwa is the biggest event that includes technical and fun events for the college students as well as for students from other institutions. We also conduct workshops for higher secondary students so they can get to know more about the different courses available in our campus.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure is feasible. I am exempted from the payment of tuition fees because I belong to an economically backward community. We can pay the fees as cash or cheque in the college office or the bank close to the college. A caution deposit of 10000 has to be paid when you get admission which will be refunded at the end of your course. Other expenses include 2000 for PTA and placement requirements.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I get a scholarship because I belong to an economically backward community. I had to fill in the application and I submitted it in the college office. The office staffs makes sure that all the eligible students are given scholarships. The students who have secured good marks in the entrance exam, as well as higher secondary examination, are given scholarships. But the have to maintain a good performance in their academics in the college as well. The students who perform well in the university exams are also given scholarships and exciting prizes.

Campus Life :

I really enjoy the campus life at SNMIMT. The staffs are really friendly with the students. They make sure that all are given equal rights. They make a friendly approach and not does impose strict rules. Well in my department there are only boys (Royal Mech). In other departments, we can see a mostly equal number of boys and girls. There is no separate religion we are all engineers. There are no political parties in our college. Well we have student groups just to plan the different college activities.

Alumni/Alumna :

The passed out students always keep in touch with the college. They always find time to take part in the different activities in our college and help us in the planning as well as their previous experience. They also help us with our academics.

Admission :

I got admission in SNMIMT using my entrance exam score. I got good reviews from the passed out students of this college. Mechanical engineering is the heart of engineering and there are a lot of job opportunities after you complete mechanical engineering. The admission process is very simple. You have to select your college and branch on the entrance exam website. Based on your entrance score you will get admission in the college.

Faculty :

Each semester includes 6 subjects and two labs. There will be different staff who will be allotted for each subject. Most of the staff are experienced people with more than 5-10 years of experience. There are also a few guest lecturers. But also maintain a good standard. They make sure that all students understand the lectures. They provide class notes as well as online notes. They conduct tests frequently to evaluate each student.

Actually placement cell is a bit week the company's is not that reputed and they offer monthly salary of 12k to 15k. Probably some startup companies. And many students choose that and work for 1 or 2 years to gain experience and then they apply for better opportunities.

From the 3rd year onwards we could attend placement interviews and many companies used to approach our college but mostly IT companies as I was in civil dept the construction companies were very less or NIL. In our batch, most of the students got placed and many offer letters but the only disadvantage was the offers were not from the core companies.
