Remarks

College life was pretty good but it being a government college it had student union controlled by the ruling party. It sometimes affected our study time. But it never interfered or created any problems for the students.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum was pretty good. We had three part examination. Each every year for the period of 3 years. In between exams of every year we had midterm exams which was taken by the college. It has a great Chemistry Laboratory which provided all the necessary equipments and chemicals. We had a very chilled atmosphere and it was not at all hectic.

Placement Experience

0.5

Since our college was a government college and it had general courses, it did not provide any placements and jobs. It doesn't provide internships and obviously it does not have any stipend opportunities.

College Events

4

Every year we had a Fest and Cultural meeting which invited all different departments to join in the contest of Departmental Competitions of Exhibitions. Our college would invite professors of other colleges as judge and they would declare the 1st 2nd and 3rd positions. The fest also has cultural program where different artists and bands were invited for a cultural evening. Talented students were also invited to perform their expertise on stage. Overall it was a 3 days program.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Being a Government college it has very affordable feelings structure. Yearly course and lab fees was Rs. 1200 for 3 years and Admission fees for every year was Rs 2500 and the examination fees for every year was around Rs. 2800

Fees and Financial Aid

Our college provided with all the scholarships that the Government of West Bengal provided. It was a Government college. I did not opt for any scholarships so I don't have any Knowledge. Many of my fellow classmates opted for the scholarships.

Campus Life

3.5

Extracurricular Activities included - NCC training for Cadres, Cricket and football team. The NCC training was very good while the cricket and football activities were not that much good. They didn't had any tournaments or events for cricket and football. The gender ratio in NCC was close to 1 but, for cricket and football, only Boys participated. There was no intolerance for girls participating but the girls voluntarily didn't participate. There was no discrimination on the basis of Gender Ethinicity, Race, Religion, Sexual Orientation, Politics and Economic status.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

No I didn't opt for hostel since the college was in my hometown. It wasn't very far from my home at it took only 15 minutes to reach the college. Moreover the hotel was only for Girls and it was very secured hostile inside the college campus.

Alumni/Alumna

There is no Alumni Network currently present. Nobody took the initiative to create an alumni network for the college. So it doesn't exist. I didn't have any interaction with my Alumni. So it has not effected my experience.

Admission

I applied for the course and a merit list was given out by the college. I was selected on merit basis. I was called for counseling and I got enrolled into the college. I loved chemistry when I was a 12th student and our college is known for providing the best chemistry course in our town. So I opted for this college and course.

Faculty

5

As I said earlier, our college was known for providing the best chemistry course. And of course the faculty was great. We had very qualified professors with great teaching skills and also good lab assistants. They were very interested to teach our course.

college placements are good in this college with a number of good financial and consultancy firms coming in with new gen companies as well in the service and sales industry. moreoever getting a good placement in a top financial or consultancy placement requires a POR in a good society as a criteria, its not really required but adds to your chances of getting it. moreover you require to participate in a number of case study competitions for the same as well. my plans after graduation is probably working for a year or two after which i plan on doing my MBA. around 50-60% who apply get a placement.

In today's competitive job market it becomes important for the college to not just help students get degrees but also provide them with placements and internships so that they can have the experience needed to stand at a competitive footing with the rest of the candidates in the world. To look into this, St. Xavier's College has a Placement Cell run by Placements officer Mr. Niladri Sinha under whose guidance, various companies visit the college regularly looking for capable young minds to take under their wing and help provide them with the necessary exposure and experience so that they can combat any obstacles that they face.

The college offers good placements for economis. Students in their final year are eligible for campus placements and there is a cell dedicated to placements. Many students do not opt for placements and go for higher studies but many students who opt for it, get placed with decent packages. Many well-known companies visit the campus as well. I wish to explore my options after completing the degree as of now.

We have a placement cell helping students get placed. They keep posting opportunities like internships and fellowships throughout the year to groom students and give them exposure and experience. Placements can go to very high packages like those in Data Science, Big 4 consulting or core finance or banking jobs. CAs, CFAs and FRMs do well in the placements. The highest packages could surpass 12-13 LPA and median packages are close to 6-7 LPA. DE Shaw, Zomato, Myntra, Meesho, TCS and McKinsey are some top companies coming here.
