Remarks
Professors are well trained but less number faculty is present. The laboratory is well equipped but some departments are not well equipped. The college has a large playground and a parking space. The classrooms are large and spacious.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course I am studing is B. Sc in Zoology. The lab are well equipped and is granted by RUSA. The Department of zoology even has a separate building. The course structure is designed by the GUWAHATI UNIVERSITY.
Placement Experience
No there is no option for placement and paid internship. The college basically provides undergraduate courses like Bachelor of Arts, bachelor of science, bachelor of commerce. It also has a higher secondary level for arts, science, and commerce.
College Events
Guwahati College festival is organized every year by the college and student union. There are other functions conducted by the college as world environment day and many more. Each department can organize events on its own.
Fee Structure And Facilities
For graduation per year 6000- 8000, it is not a costly college for a middle-class family. Even free admission is available which costs only around 250 INR and amis offered to students whose parents or guardians are not financially sound.
Fees and Financial Aid
No there is no such scholarship offered by the college, but students can apply for free admission by providing necessary documents and income certificate. National scholarships provided by governments can be claimed by the students.
Campus Life
Zoology and botany departments have the best infrastructure as compared to other departments of courses available. Workshops are organized by different departments. The college is diverse in religion, caste.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility is not available. This is a major disadvantage of this college. If a student is from outside the town, he/she have to rent of pay for paying guest. So in A city like Guwahati, it would cost another 6000 for a single Paying guest.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes, the interaction with the seniors or alumni are helpful. They provide students with the best knowledge About the college. Seniors help their juniors in practicals and projects assigned to them. It helps a newly admitted student to understand the course in a proper way.
Admission
First, the student has to apply online for the admission process, then an entrance examination is conducted by the college on a particular date. After that, the names of selected candidates are listed merit-wise.
Faculty
Professors are Ph.D. holders in their respective subjects. The professors are well trained and are experienced. But some of the departments have fewer professors as compare to the number of students. The newly appointed professors are mostly on a contract basis.
