Remarks

The college and the college management is good in all aspects taking proper care of the students.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Leaning imparted in the college is up to the mark with the latest changes in the filed. The course is revised frequently so that the students stay updated with anything relevant and new from the field of architecture. There are no campus-based placements in the college but the education provided here itself is capable enough of making the students well versed about the subject matter based on which they can work in the professional world.

Placement Experience

1.5

There is no placement procedure for the college. The students opt for off-campus placements in architectural firms and other related places as well.

College Events

4

Every week a Talk-Fest is organised in which architects from various parts of India are called on to talk on specific fields regarding architecture. The annual cultural fest of the college is Tarash which continues for as long as three weeks. There are numerous workshops organised in the fest itself along with various inter-college as well as intra-college competitions. The student turn-up is around 2000. A two day seminar is organised under the event name- Meraki. In this seminar the top notch architects are invited from across the globe where they explain about their works and impart knowledge to students coming from various colleges of Maharashtra.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is feasible and the fee breakdown is transparent. Considering the faculties and the facilities provided the annual fee of 80,000 per year is feasible enough for a decent college like this. The annual examination fees are 1000 per year which has to be deposited apart from the college fees. The college takes the amount of the fee through checks or bank transfer.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not opt for any scholarship or education loan. My marks in JEE was decent enough to get me admission into the college itself.

Campus Life

2

The gender ratio of the college stands at 70:30 where 70 per cent of the students are girls and then the remaining 30 percent constitute the boys. As mentioned every week a Talk is organised for the students. All major workshops are done under the three-week-long fest Tarash.

Alumni/Alumna

It mostly varies upon students to students. The seniors are decent enough to help in things if asked for.

Admission

I opted for this course because of my interest in the field of architecture. Since childhood, the design and the looks of buildings and monuments have fascinated me. The college is a very reputed college in Mumbai and one of the oldest in the city. They have one of the best faculty sets and the most experienced ones in the field too. The admission procedure is done through the MHCET in which the students have to appear in the counselling round where based on their marks they are allotted the seats in various colleges in the state.

Faculty

4

The number of lectures in a week are 10. The average age of faculty is in the 40's and the qualification is M.Arch for most of them. The teachers are very well versed and experienced in their subject matter. They provide in-depth knowledge of the subject and are eager to remove any doubts from the student's mind if any. The lectures are sufficient enough for us to grasp the basic fundamentals clearly.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The frequency of exam is twice a semester and good enough. Guest lectures are good and helpful for the future preparation. There must be a change in teaching styles of the faculty and more site based experiments through the course for better understanding than only in class studies , the beauty of historical buldings made me wonder about this course

Placement Experience:

For architecure departments, usually there are no placements, but since this Institute is autonomous, they have startes conducting placements drive. Last year 10/12 students were placed in good firms all over banglore, pune, kolhapur. I plan on applying to different firms all over Maharashtra and would also hope to get placement via college since the packages that are offered are good. Placement percentage is anywhere between 12-15%. The highest package offered was around 5,40,000, average package for a architecture student would be-around 3lakhs.

Placement Experience:

There is no campus placement for architecture students. After completion of the degree, one can apply for jobs or opt for masters. Architects get an average starting salary of 20-25 thousand. The course is pretty expensive including college fees and printing prices. One can also open a private firm and earn enough money. There are very few open students getting placed. My plans after getting a degree are to apply for masters. For a teaching job, one must complete masters.
