Remarks

The overall atmosphere of the campus is very refreshing with a lot of opportunities to involve in politics and all. Most of the departments have faculties who are very experienced professionals with an excellent track record. while coming to the nature of students, youngsters from all over Kerala reach the campus who belongs to many socioeconomic backgrounds.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The Journalism curriculum offer a comprehensive study of each aspect of Mass communication with a special orientation towards the area of research. Though there is no specific space for research related studies in the syllabus, there is an in depth coverage of subjects in the curriculum.

Placement Experience

1.5

The department of Journalism advice to do an internship of two months in any of the media organizations outside. Since the college doesn't have any course for Post Graduation, other departments does not provide opportunities for internship.

College Events

3.5

The college celebrates annual arts festivals and conduct sports meets. Since it is an arts college, there is no major technical fests conducted in the college. Most of the celebrations are cultural in nature.

Fee Structure And Facilities

There is a nominal admission fee in the campus which can be reimposed at the end of course. The fee structure is feasible to most of the students and people with different economic backgrounds come to the campus to do their course.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college allows the students to avail all state and central government provided scholarships like all the state merit and central government scholarships. The institution doesn't provide any kind of special scholarships other than this.

Campus Life

3.5

The college, once excelled in extracurricular activities and cultural programs is now moving towards a more academic oriented approach, mostly because of the recent changes in management. People from different social and economic backgrounds attend college in the campus and is very inclusive in nature.

Hostel Facilities

1

There is no hostel facilities available as part of the campus. There is facilities for stay available at many of the government hostels near the campuses at an affordable range. The hostels outside offers shared rooms and the facilities are comparatively limited.

Alumni/Alumna

Most of the students live a detached life from the campus once they leave after graduation. There is no formal alumni organization as of my knowledge rather than the usual social media interactions between students. The campus has some restrictions for outsiders to enter nowadays and it has seriously impacted the visit of former students.

Admission

I joined for BA Journalism at Sree Narayana College, kollam through the merit list of students published in the single window admission system by Kerala education department. There was no entrance common entrance and with my interest towards languages and journalism I found the course suitable for me.

Faculty

3

Most of the faculties are guests in journalism department. Other departments have legendary figures in teaching, especially in the department of Malayalam and English. Journalism department is comparatively novel and most of the faculties hold Post Graduation in Journalism.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is almost best. Curriculum doesn't influenced me in deciding this course. Curriculum should add internships. Currently there is no mandatory internship, if students are interested they can do internship during vacations. As we are learning psychology which need to be practiced in real world settings, curriculum must include real world training to help students understand things more effectively. Currently intervel between exams are non existent. Internal exams, then semester exams, you blink once, next internal exams, followed by semester exams. Syllabus is understandable, can learn if you try. Exams are also manageable. Real world examples and stories can be included in teaching methods, as psychology is related to humans and human interaction, to get better grasp of concepts. Rather than focusing on passing exam, should focus on the concepts and understand them in-depth. There are a lot of theories to study by heart. And there are many repetitive topics that overlap, but in different semesters.

I feel in love with mathematics in plus two time. The coursee are more application based when compared to other. Out college being an autonomous college has good grip to keep up to the level of good education. Overall teaching methods and syllabus are very good. Frequency of exams are troublesome during the last time of year because all the programmes like youth festival annual day etc come together

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course is Bsc Biotechnology. It is a research associated course. Its main scope is in research. But in every industry let it be medical or industrial a biotechnologist is required. I would like more practical knowledge than theory knowledge in this course as it is needed to be implemented in labs hands on experience is essential. Exams are conducted every 6 months as semester. Class tests and model exams are conducted frequently. Assignments, projects, seminar ,etc.. are given every month.
