Remarks

Some times there are unnecessary strikes which hinder studies. The campus has some political parties and there is sometimes rivalry between different branches which sometimes cause fights. There have been various times when police have had to enter to calm things down. But its all cool.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Engineering courses require dedicated effort from the students. The curriculum is not that up to date and is revised every 4 years. The semester exam happens in 6 months after which if there are backlogs one needs to wait another 6 months to write the exam again. The results come out faster as compared to other universities in Kerala.

Placement Experience

2.5

Job openings via placements are a little dim for the mechanical engineering department. Where as the fire and safety branch enjoys very high placements. The college does not provide internship facilities. I did my internship in autotech Chennai. As a person who finished engineering from cusat the best way to land a good job is to go to Australia because CUSAT students get priority for Australian Visa.

College Events

4.5

1.Onam- it is the biggest festival in Kerala we celebrate it every year it's a day where a lot of traditional kerala games are played in college.like tug of war, pookala malsram. 2.Sports - here students compete in athletics and games cusat has nurtured good sports personalities over the years who have even played for india. 3. Arts - Different cultural and traditional art forms are showcased every year ,lot of famous personalities come to watch it.students go on to contest in intercollege and national level competitions. 4.Techno cultural festival: every year our college hosts technological and cultural festival to showcase the technological and cultural talents of its students here students from all parts of Kerala compete for prizes and is celebrated for 3 days. Various sponsors are interested in this program which is a gathering of thousands of students mostly engineers.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is very affordable I paid 30000 per year for mechanical engineering. There are various scholarships available like MoMA which can further reduce fee. The hostal fee was very low as compared to private hostels and the hostel provides good food for very cheap prices.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is minority scholarship ( MOMA) that I know of. And there are also lot of other good scholarships provided by the government for backward students. The Loans are provided by the banks not the college authorities but a student from cusat can easily apply and receive loans since it is a premium institution of Kerala.

Campus Life

4

We have all kinds of labs available, for example heat engine lab, fluid mechanics lab , strength of materials lab, CAD lab , CP lab, Hydraulic machines lab , Lathe, Turning machines , grinding machines etc, all labs have highly skilled lab attendants who will help students. For sports we have a big ground and the sport department has all modern amenities. The college is very supportive of extra curricular activities.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel is very big and thousands of students stay the fee is very low. The food is very good and cheap. We have attached bathrooms and good water supply. The warden is good man and friendly. There are lots of places in the hostel to study and if there are problems it is all sorted out by the warden.

Alumni/Alumna

The bond between the senior students of cusat and it's junior students are very strong. There are various alumni associations in various parts of the globe and help Freshers to find jobs. Personally I am in touch with the Alumni association in Australia.

Admission

I was selected based on kerala engineering entrance exams in 2014. I score 983 rank in cusat exam after that I was called for counselling and document verification, they checked my sslc and plus two certificate and entrance exam score and then finally I joined for mechanical engineering.

Faculty

3.5

College faculty are highly educated people, most professors have a PhD. The mechanical engineering staff especially are kind and are always willing to help out students. The lab assistants are also very knowledgeable people and are fully dedicated to help the students reach peak performance.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

Placement Experience:

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
