Remarks

The focus of the college management is providing education and personality growth of their girls, and they are very good at it.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

This college follows the course curriculum provided by Calcutta University and along with the university's exam structure, they conduct semester-wise college tests of their own. Attendance is taken very strictly and at times students have been not allowed to take the exam if they have not maintained the required attendance without valid reasons.

Placement Experience

4

The college does not provide placements or placement guidance as of now. But they are incorporating various vocational courses, NGO works (under NSS scheme) to increase students' hands-on experience in field works.

College Events

3.5

Every department contains one excursion, a few inter-college departmental seminars, several guest lectures, themed workshops throughout the year. For entertainment, the college conducts small parties on occasions like Freshers, Farewells, teachers' day events, annual prize distribution. Because it is a Christian college, Christmas is celebrated in bright colours.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The college is a government-sponsored college, so the entire fee structure is very reasonable. The college only takes charges for the facilities that they provide and it's structured taken in mind the poorest of families in urban Kolkata. There is also scholarship provided under state government schemes, and a 50% discount on tuition fees is given to socially backward classes.

Fees and Financial Aid

College provides a scholarship that amounts to 50% of the tuition fees for SC, ST, OBC (NC) categories. There are no education loans facilities provided as the college fees are paid quarterly and it's so reasonable that loans are not necessary.

Campus Life

4

The college conducts karate lessons weekly to every student. The annual sports event and two-day long miscellaneous contests provide students with chances to showcase their athletic prowess, creativity in fine-arts and performance arts in diverse fields. The debate club and movie clubs take their turns in organising annual events. The campus nurtures a safe environment with anti-ragging and anti-discriminatory practices given serious attention. We have seen girls from all walks of life and all religions coming together in the peaceful campus.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel is situated on the 2nd and third floor of the main campus building. The hostel is kept neat and clean, under the administration of a warden and the principal herself. Extreme care is given to ensure the hostelers get their food thrice in a day and in the manner they prefer. Both veg and non-veg food are provided depending on individual preference.

Alumni/Alumna

The college conducts alumni meet in December of every year. It's thrilling to hear how girls had become ladies for nearly 75 years in this institute. They provide us with guidance on how to survive the world outside the college.

Admission

This college selects students based on their academic profile (10th, 12th marks) and the short-listed candidates are then asked to visit the college premise and to engage in an interview with the honourable principle and other faculties. Usually, the admission process is conducted during the month of May. This college is a good option for those who want to excel in their subject matter.

Faculty

5

Every faculty here are highly educated and experienced, most of them having doctorates in their subject matters from various universities. The pro-active faculty is always on their best behaviour and ready to acknowledge any of their students' academic needs. After three years, the professors will become your friends and mentors. We have seen professors coming out of their comfort zone and help students in their personal capacities by giving extra classes, clearing doubts in their personal time.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There are several prospects, especially peer-to-peer counseling, where you get a mentor. We call it mentor mentee program. So, there will be groups of students, and each group will have a mentor who helps you whenever you face any issues whether in real life or in your academic journey. They’re always there for you. There are also remedial classes, and extracurricular activities are included in the curriculum. You even get the freedom to choose what you want to pursue creatively, like joining poetry clubs and similar groups. Right now, I’m at Banaras University, and the curriculum here is really good. We have sessions on public speaking, how to conduct interviews, and many other practical skills. These are highly commendable because they help you in professional situations like the one I’m in now. However, I would say that teachers could be a bit more active with electronic tools like using PPT presentations or audio-visual methods instead long lecture sessions. As for exams, I wouldn’t say they’re too difficult because there are many weekly assessments and sessionals, which actually help you evaluate yourself better.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have always wanted to persue English as a career. I love studying English but not a big fan of the new curriculum by NEP that includes a lot pf irrelevant papers. The semesters are not consistent. Odd semesters usually have a lot of time like 6-8 months but even semesters barely consist of 2-3 months.

I used to read so many novels from my childhood and that inspired me in getting attracted to this field. We used to have the fecility of having seminar in the end of every month after compleating of each lessons. And this process helped us in true education. After every year professors from differnt parts of the country used to come for a seminer for overall groth of the students. Actually is theory teaching style is followed in the college, according to me some developments in the practical teaching can be used. Semister is held at the end of every six months and the exams are used to be moderate in nature.
