Remarks

Our college is very good except for its management. We have a very poor quality of food in our mess as the coupon amount is just 10/- for breakfast and 25/- for lunch and dinner so the quality is also not growing and the faculties are not also helping us to change it even after our request and also the concept of liberty and enjoyment is not taken seriously by our director. He thinks studying is all required in our college. They even don't arrange a convocation ceremony for passing out students.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

At the beginning of our curriculum, the structure of our course was not that good but later on, it changed. By 2018, the structure of the course changed and aligned properly with the inclusion of some more important and valid subjects into our 4-year course.

Placement Experience

4

Yes, this year I can say the placements are going quite well and job opportunities have increased and I can solely give this credit to my efficient batchmates that they are getting placed in companies that are coming to our college by clearing the interviews and no company had yet gone empty-handed, and y3s also to our placement cell for bringing all those companies. And talking about internships Dell and Aptus Data labs are the only companies coming to our college for internship programs.

College Events

2

The biggest event of our college is the techno-cult fest which is named *ADVAITA*. It is celebrated for 4 continuous days between the 7th to 10th of February every year. Then we have one film fest that occurs on the first weekend of February. Then we celebrate Tasveer( a day when all students wear ethnic dresses and along with that we have a dance face-off between students of different branches of 3rd and 4th year. Also, we celebrate Diwali, Holi, Ganesh puja, Saraswati puja, etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is feasible with each semester costing around 1lakh and also for poor students we have a concept of TFW ( tuition fee waiver) which can ve availed by 2 students from each branch each year and also we have opportunities to avail some scholarship schemes of government of Odisha and India (like medhabruti).

Fees and Financial Aid

There is a branch of Andhra bank where we have to submit our semester fees and it has tie-up with our college so we can avail the loan facility in that bank easily and also in other banks also but there are no such college tie-ups. Our college provides Tfw(tuition fee waiver) scheme where we don't have to pay for our college tuition fees but by other charges and it can be availed by 2 students each year from each branch. Our college also helps us availing scholarship schemes provided by the government of Odisha and India like one I got i.e Medhabruti.

Campus Life

3.5

We have an active film and theatre society where we practice and perform street plays and theatres in different places and also go to IIT Kharagpur cult fest( spring fest) to perform of which I am an active member and also we won 2nd or 3rd position in a theatre competition. We also have an active cultural society and a band. We also have a tech society that is famous for its innovative ideas and also student teaching programs. We also have an art society, photography society and SPIC MACAY society, and News and publication society.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

The hostel fee at the beginning of our admission was 9000/ then later on it was increased to 10000/- and also we have new hostel which is charged with 20000/- pee semester where we can have a single room. We can also choose a double shared room for 14000/- per sem. Then we have to pay even internet charges a d also Mess charges - 2500/- and D. G charges also.

Alumni/Alumna

As it is a new college founded in 2009 so till now our alumni network is not that strong but sure it will get stronger as time passes and talking about seniors, yes they are very much helpful they guide us in our curricular as well extracurricular activities. They also help us in availing internships and jobs by referrals and technical know-how to get it.

Admission

First of all, after appearing for our 12th exam, we have filled a form dedicated for our college only which is available online on the IIIT BBSR site on google. Then we have to score at least 75% in our 12th exam. Then we have to appear JEE main exam and on the basis of marks secured in that exam, students get selected.

Faculty

3

Truly speaking the faculties of our college is not that good generally. Though there are some good and some extraordinary teachers (i.e. teachers who have good teaching skills not good students only). Some good teachers are also leaving our college, they might have their own reasons or not increase in pay scale.

Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University - [SOA], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Jan 9, 2026(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

I actually have a very little idea about placements of our uni few seniors says there is not a single company visiting, while few were discussing the highest placement which was something like 20lpa or something,i think companies do visit our campus it may not be much but i have definetly seen one or two companies visiting. I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.

Gandhi Engineering College (GEC Autonomous), Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Dec 22, 2025(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.
