Remarks

I did my B.Sc. Zoology from MES Ponnani College. It was an amazing experience for me, the teachers and classmates were quite supportive and friendly. The college also used to hold amazing events, which i loved to attend and were full of fun. The college also got re-accredited with grade 'A' by NAAC making it even more popular. I liked my college alot because it always considered students above anything and were concern faculty also took care of us.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course is drafted by the University of Calicut, as it provides the college with its affiliation. B. Sc. is a semester 3-year based course , and so the course is divided into a total of 6 semesters. In starting semesters, the whole focus is on developing the knowledge of students via equal participation of electives, core and additional subjects. Later on the core knowledge of the course is focused on by the increased number of core subjects. The examinations are held at every semester, i.e, twice every year and are undertaken by the University of Calicut. The college also timely holds internal examinations for measuring the preparation of the students.

Fee Structure And Facilities

B.Sc. Zoology fees was Rs. 67,800, which was quite expensive for me at that time. Still, I took admission to the college because of its past record and quality education it provided, because of which is considered one of the top colleges here.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are a number of merits and community-based scholarships disbursed by the government both at district and state levels, for meritorious and students belonging to poorer sections of society. There are a number of scholarships to avail, if one is eligible.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The college has two hostels, each for male and female students respectively. The hostels have a decent infrastructure and considered good by the residing students. The hostel also serves good food in the mess. The rooms are also quite comfortable and spacious. Hygiene is also well maintained in the hostel. Strict rules are mandated by the hostel to ensure the security of the students residing there.

Admission

I got admission into the college based on the result of my CET ( Common Entrance Test ) result, followed by a merit list. Luckily, I got admission into MES Ponnani in 2nd allotment of seats. All colleges under the University of Calicut are strictly filled like this, on a merit basis. After that, I visited the college and was interviewed by some teachers and my documents were checked and my admission process was taken forward, I submitted the required documents and a part of the fee as asked to ensure my admission to the college.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty of the college is well qualified, skilled and knowledgeable in their respective fields, and never failed to solve our doubts and clarifying our confusion regarding their subjects. The teachers were quite strict but friendly at times and were our best source of motivation and guidance during our college time. The teachers worked relentlessly to help students learn more and better to support their future. The teachers also take timely class tests after every topic to ensure students grasp it properly.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is almost best. Curriculum doesn't influenced me in deciding this course. Curriculum should add internships. Currently there is no mandatory internship, if students are interested they can do internship during vacations. As we are learning psychology which need to be practiced in real world settings, curriculum must include real world training to help students understand things more effectively. Currently intervel between exams are non existent. Internal exams, then semester exams, you blink once, next internal exams, followed by semester exams. Syllabus is understandable, can learn if you try. Exams are also manageable. Real world examples and stories can be included in teaching methods, as psychology is related to humans and human interaction, to get better grasp of concepts. Rather than focusing on passing exam, should focus on the concepts and understand them in-depth. There are a lot of theories to study by heart. And there are many repetitive topics that overlap, but in different semesters.

I feel in love with mathematics in plus two time. The coursee are more application based when compared to other. Out college being an autonomous college has good grip to keep up to the level of good education. Overall teaching methods and syllabus are very good. Frequency of exams are troublesome during the last time of year because all the programmes like youth festival annual day etc come together

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course is Bsc Biotechnology. It is a research associated course. Its main scope is in research. But in every industry let it be medical or industrial a biotechnologist is required. I would like more practical knowledge than theory knowledge in this course as it is needed to be implemented in labs hands on experience is essential. Exams are conducted every 6 months as semester. Class tests and model exams are conducted frequently. Assignments, projects, seminar ,etc.. are given every month.
