Remarks

To sum up, my 4 years in the college was fantastic and I enjoyed every moment of it from an academic perspective as well as from a social point of view. In my opinion, IIIT will provide a very good environment to a student which will help him grow on a personal and professional level in these 4 years.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Fo rme, I believe that the course is similar to that of BPUT. And I want to express my opinion here that I feel the curriculum is a bit outdated. Because, I don't think any engineering student needs to have a subject taught on renewable energy sources, if he/she is in Computer Science branch. Again, this is only my opinion, people might feel differently, but this is my take on this particular subject matter.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, our college does provide internship to the 3rd year students. Dell is basically the company which comes for providing internships to the students. They organize some coding quizzes and after that they conduct 3 rounds of interviews namely Technical - , Technical - 2 and finally the HR round. I was not selected but the stipend they provide is of a very good amount.

Placement Experience

4

The overall placement scenario is very good with 95 percent of the total batch getting placed. During our placements that is in 2018 around 19 companies visited the college like Infosys, IBM, Dell, ITC etc. who provided multiple job opportunities to the students.

College Events

3.5

Every year, we have a brilliant fest called - Advaita. It is a 4 day thing where everything happens, from technical competitions to entertainment and DJ night programs. Every year, different celebrities are invited to perform on that night. And talking about the events throughout the year, we have small events and competitions that happen every now and then which will provide ample opportunities to the students to showcase their amazing talent.

Fee Structure And Facilities

To some extent, it feels a little bit on the expensive side, but the facilities that the college provide, compensates for the little bit extra that goes from your pocket. For 2018 batch - We had to give roughly 70,000 every semester. This was our structure, and I have heard that they have increased it further for the new batches.

Fees and Financial Aid

For the EWS, our college provides a substantial amount of waive. During our batch when the regular students had 70,000 as their fees, it was 14000 for the EWS students. I think this was a very good thing that our college to help those students. And while taking admission, the college will give you the exact fee structure which will help you to avail a loan in any bank easily (if required).

Campus Life

4.5

We have a beautiful ground at the back of the college. We have regular cricket and football matches there. Regarding the labs, we have ample electrical labs, computer labs and chemistry labs. And each labs are well equipped with the required materials so no complaints there. And for sports activities, small competitions happen throughout the year which can determine your selection in the college team. And if someone is interested in sports, then he/she can play and get selected for the college team.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel infrastructure and facilities is something that totally exceeded my expectations. IIIT Hostel is one of the best when it comes to rooms and all. 3 seated and 4 seated rooms are present in the hostel and each rooms are quite big and 3/4 people can easily live there. The rooms are very clean with the cleaning staff keeping it clean everyday. I had not seen that kind of maintenance anywhere before. The living situation is a very big plus point when it comes to IIIT.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors and Alumini are very helpful. If you find any one of them in the social media sites and ping them for help regarding the details of the college, they will surely help a person out. Regarding the seniors, they are very friendly and will help you with anything. Be it a personal problem, or any academic advice, the environment is such that you can walk into their room and can ask for advice and you will get it for sure. That is the kind of freedom that is there between the senior and junior.

Exam Structure

Basically we have two quizzes which is like an MCQ exam. One happens post the mid semester and one before the mid semester. That being said, mid semester of 30 marks is conducted and at the end of semester, you will have an exam of 50 marks. And each quiz is about 15 marks, total being 30.

Admission

I gave the JEE Mains 2014. And then after getting the results, I had to separately apply for admission in IIIT Bhubaneswar. There after submitting all my details in the given online form, I was notified after some days that I was selected for my desired subject. They had different cut offs, for different branches which is dependent on the number of seats that are there. And I got the news of my selection in the second round of counseling. And generally 5 rounds are conducted along with one spot round for the preparation of a final list of student eligible for admission.

Faculty

3.5

Well, here I want to say that you will find some of the very learned faculties who will go out of their way to help you in all and any doubts. I have personal experience in this where I called a professor from his home and he came just to solve the doubt of a couple of students on a weekend. Well, some are not that friendly, but that is the story of every college in India.

Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University - [SOA], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Jan 9, 2026(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

I actually have a very little idea about placements of our uni few seniors says there is not a single company visiting, while few were discussing the highest placement which was something like 20lpa or something,i think companies do visit our campus it may not be much but i have definetly seen one or two companies visiting. I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.

Gandhi Engineering College (GEC Autonomous), Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Dec 22, 2025(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.
