Remarks

I have only positive memories about my college. The faculty was very supportive and helped me during the formative years in college. The admin staff and the principal(he was a Gandhian) used to really care about us.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum was designed by Delhi University. Being an Honours student, we had to study Maths as the main subject with 10 Maths papers in total to be cleared over 3 years. There were subsidiaries like Physics and Chemistry (1 papers and 1 practical each subject for the first 2 years).

Internships Opportunities

No, at that time, there was no internship. But nowadays, I think that some college are offering internship but they must be engineering colleges. During those days, the concept of internship had still not come.

Placement Experience

4.5

BSC is a well respected course. Doing this course has definitely helped me in my chosen career of Computing. Some subjects we had studied during our 3 years in the college like Linear Programming and Statistics helped me to develop a logical mind.

College Events

5

The major event in any college are the elections and it used to be time consuming affair. Many weeks were wasted and we enjoyed lots of holidays just to gear up for the elections. Apart from that, we had the customary college festival which was attended in large numbers,

Fee Structure And Facilities

During those days, it was very inexpensive. I remember that the entire fees for 1 year was just under Rs. 1000 per year. We also had the bus pass facility for Rs. 12.50/ month which was valid on all DTC and private buses too.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not avail any loan facility. But I came to know later that if you were one among the toppers, you could avail for scholarship under which your college fees could be waived off, but there were no such students in my batch.

Campus Life

4.5

The new building had brand new labs with modern facilities. We were issued the instruments to be used at the beginning of the academic year. We were supposed to keep those in our custody in our college lockers. At the end of the year, we were supposed to return it back failing which fine would be levied on us. We had a big ground in the new college campus where we played cricket and football.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

When I joined Moti Lal Nehru College, the infrastructure was quite poor, since we were at a rented building in South Moti Bagh(1986-1988). The classes were quite crowded, but in 1988, we shifted to the new building near Ram Lal College near South Campus which had all the modern facilities in classrooms and labs.

Alumni/Alumna

We had strong alumni network and used to bond during college festivals and other events. In case of any issues, we could approach the seniors and get them resolved. Ragging during those days was non-existent and on the first day, the seniors only asked our name and course taken.

Exam Structure

There were 10 papers in Maths - 2 in the first year, 3 in the second year and 5 in the last year. Apart from Maths, we had to clear Physics and Chemistry papers with practicals for the first 2 years. Exams were held in the month of March-April and results declared a month later.

Admission

During those days, admission process was very easy unlike nowadays. I took all my certificates and the fees to be paid. After reaching there, I filled out the form - (it was manual in those days), submitted my certificates and the fees at the counter. The entire process took less than half an hour.

Faculty

5

The faculty was quite qualified and did their job well. We had a doubt clearance session each week where we could clear the doubts faced by us. The faculty was quite approachable and friendly and guided us well.
