Entrance Preview

I appeared for AIEEE 2012 examination and secured approximately 11,000 rank in all india open category i had 3 options in mind which are NIT warangal, trichy, surathkal as my rank is bit higher and i was thinking about opting ECE i couldn't make it into any of these colleges so i looked at my next option and there it is, my college NIT Calicut i got it in my second round remained same in third round so i chose it and here iam doing my engineering in nit clalicut.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course structure is quite good it helps you to improve your technical knowledge as we have electives like embedded systems and data structures it helps us getting along with today's IT world as you know not every one get into core companies, it is a good foresight to get students familiar with coding and algorithms we have electives like VLSI and MTDS helps you understand designing of FPGA's and logic GATEs.

Internships Opportunities

No i don't think my college provide internships although there are quite no of clubs which might help you learning things lik ISTE,IEEE and TEAM UNWIRED and ROBOTICS etc joining these clubs will be helpful.

Placement Experience

4

Placements are good for certain branches especially brances like cse and ece gets good placement percentage well most of the ece guys gets placed in it companies so it's just a number as only few of them placed in core companies coming to other branches it is quite low as no of companies visiting are low compared to IT companies overall it's good placement record in our college.

College Events

4.5

Our college conducts two major events namely TATHVA and RAGAM the former one is technical festival lasts for 3 days and later one is culteral festival tathva includes competetins like robot fighting, death race and other cultural activities and there will be DJ nights all three days RAGAM known for cultural events and notified celebrities will come overall they are brilliant.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Right now for us fees are okay for academics we pay around 20000 each semester and for hostel+mess we pay around 17000 each semester so for a year it costs around 80000 approximately mess bill consists of basic plus extras basic bill is typically 2,200(76/a day) per month and extras like cool drinks, chocolates and other canteen stuff.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yeah, there are many scholarships available and we have SBI NIT calicut which provides student loans so as to help economically poor students minority students have very good scholarships so once they get in they need not to worry about money.

Campus Life

4

Here environment is good it rains all the time beautiful campus with lot's of trees no gender discrimination there are lot's of oportunities for students who are good in sports there will be college team selections every year if you made it into them you could participate in inter NIT competitions and national wide championships.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel facilities are good.final year students gets single rooms water facilities are good mess is okay as you have many options we can adjust there are around 8 messes and you can take any one of them for a month depending on you are a vegetarian or non

Alumni/Alumna

Senior students are helpful once you get familiarised with them any doubts regarding academies and sports they will be there for you they helps you joining clubs which i've mentioned before.

Exam Structure

Overall 100 marks for each subject including labs there are two internal examination typically carries 20 marks each assignments, class tests, simulation reports, seminars carries 10 mark and end semester is for 50 marks so, 20+20+10+50=100 pass mark woul

Faculty

4

Faculty is good enough yes there will be some adhoc's but it's not a problem as professors will help you with any kind of technical doubts they are punctual and strict and makes sure that you learn them clearly by conducting seminars and giving assignment

The campus placements are decent. getting placed in a big company is more about having the technical and soft skills to pass the interviews. the placement training helps us develop soft skills but the technical skills must be developed ourselves.
