Remarks
It is a very small college with a not-so-attractive campus. Students can enjoy and study to the core if they really want to. It all really depends upon each and every student and what they want from this experience.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum, though updated regularly is not at par with international standards but is manageable. We have semester-wise exams which are not usually conducted on time causing a whole lot of problems to students.
Placement Experience
No, my college doesn't provide any campus placements or internships. There is a placement cell though, which is not really active. Since this is a government college, walk-in interviews may be students' only source of grabbing a job. But most of the students aim at government jobs.
College Events
There are a number of events celebrated in my college. It all starts with a Chingam Fest conducted for 2 days before the Onam vacations. The whole face of the college changes into a vibrant atmosphere. It will be followed by a November Fest on November 1 which is conducted on account of Kerala Piravi. Then we have the Diwali Fest followed by a Christmas fest. All the way in February, we have the Valentine's Fest which is followed by Dhruva, the arts fest of our college which is normally a 4 day affair. We also have a Sports Meet in between. The fests in our college give us a reason to enjoy amidst a very dull schedule.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is very feasible. You can attain graduation with no cost if you have some kind of reservation. Otherwise, you may need to pay about Rs. 1000 per semester depending upon your course and semester.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are a number of student loans available for students with reservations. I do not have a good amount of knowledge about them as I am a general category student. Campus Life
There are a numner clubs available including media club, Gandhian Studies Club, Nature Club, Science Club, etc. Not all of them are really active. But, other programmes such as NSS, NCC and WWS are really active. Coming to sports we have our own teams for Cricket, football, volleyball, roll ball etc. Many of our students have played at the national level.
Hostel Facilities
There is a university hostel which is located a bit far away. Out of station students usually opt for Paying Guest residences nearby which have average facilities and charge about Rs. 5000 with food.
Alumni/Alumna
Seniors do mentor us when needed, and some of the alumni visits the college during fests, but I'm not sure if the network is really active. Seniors do mentor us when needed, and some of the alumni visits the college during fests, but I'm not sure if the network is really active.
Admission
We first login to Kerala University's UG Admission Portal which becomes active around May-June every year. Then we register ourselves in the portal and opt for colleges and course according to our preferences. There are about 5 allotments and multiple spot allotments that the University offers. I got my desired college in the 2nd allotment. I submitted all the required documents, underwent a counselling session and thats it -- I officially became a student of this institution.
Faculty
The faculty are highly qualified, most of them are PhD holders. There are a number of guest lecturers, who teach very well. Some teachers do refrain from spoonfeeding which may become an issue to students who have been spoonfeeded all their school years, but otherwise teaching is great.
