The subject goes through different disciplines of geography such as geomorphology, Oceanography, climatology, and other human geography aspects along with 2 complementary subjects as geology and statistics. The faculties are good.

Class Size: 30Course Fees: INR 1100 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

The course goes by 6 semesters within a span of 2 years. For backward caste students, there are benefits for the general category each sem a fix of 505 is to be paid additional amount will be charged for lab uses.

Campus Life

A variety of programs are conducted by the college union. The library is air-conditioned with a calm studying atmosphere. Classes are so spacious and ventilated. We have a huge ground, volleyball ball court, badminton court, etc. There are active programs of NSS, NCC, SFS, and other groups.

Admission

One should complete 12th with the required subject geography or science in particular. The application is done through the Kerala University portal. Every detail required for admission is available in the portal. The admission process is pretty smooth.

Honest review about SH college: academic, campus and beyond

Placement Experience:

Placements at Sacred Heart College are quite promising and focus on equipping the student with the skill set for employment. Normally, a candidate may get eligible for campus placement after fifth semester , course-wise. Several reputed companies visit the campus for recruitment, such as TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Deloitte, etc.and offer roles in data analyst, software developer, marketing associate, etc.The highest package in recent years has been around ?10 LPA, while the average package ranges between ?3-5 LPA, depending on the company and job profile. About 80% of the students get campus placements, and others go for higher studies or start entrepreneurship. In case campus placement is not available for specific programs, the college facilitates career counseling and internships and provides skill development programs to improve employability. After my graduation, I would like to go for higher studies, a specific industry, business, etc. using the knowledge and experience acquired at Sacred Heart College.

St Joseph's College, Devagiri: The beginning of success and prosperity.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placement after 4th semester. Since I am in the third semester I don't know much about the companies visited and the no of offers made. I think highest package offered is 20 lakh per annum ( not completely sure). Last year about 28 students of my department got placed in several companies so percentage is high. I am not sure yet, I will either go for my master's in forensic science or try for campus placements.

I chose this coarse because i love geography. But it was not as same as i learnt in my higher secondary. But it also includes the continuation of +2 geography.The curriculum enables us for real world applications like Calculating time of different areas and the intensity of wind and weather symbols and also make us capable to identify types of rock. Actyally teaching method should be improved. Many interesting topics are turning into boring ones. They are conducting exams regularly to modify oru knowledge

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose geography for my graduation because of it was a rare course and only provided by three govt college in Calicut University. It is a good course and it's sub disciplines are very nice to connect with others. Frequency of exams are based on the time duration of finishing the semesters. Usually it's two sem exams in a year and with some other reasons it may get delayed. In course of three years all 6 semesters and it's exams along with project and practical will be finished. Field trip is the main attraction of the course.

This was the only goverment college with the course I was looking for. Mistaken for the Kariavattom university campus, manu students apply for the college and upon arrival feel disappointed. But my case was different, I needed the course and the college was not an option. I didn't keep any other colleges for allotment. Just this one and got selected in the first round itself. Bsc geography is a very good coarse but it is difficult to score marks. It is job oriented. It can be in many field after tsking geography. We can perform very well in upsc exams. It enables critical thinking and there are many interesting features to learn . We can get the application form online or from the college itself . The eligibility of the course is to have 60% and above in science stream for higher studies. Interested students can apply for BSc Biochemistry in this college. Admission process is via allotment. You should apply for many colleges of the subject in an order based on your interest. Reservation for OBC ,SC/ST, sports quota, etc is available.
