Remarks

Overall the college is average I would say as there are pros and cons everywhere. Learning and infrastructure is good but getting placement is hard work. A slight act of indiscipline and one gets suspended which takes away his/her right to sit in any plac

Entrance Preview

I took the exam conducted by the college itself and secured rank 90 out of 110 students selected from my state examination centre.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum is good according to the requirements of the marine industry. Research is in one's own interest. There are no electives as such, all the subjects are mandatory. The knowledge required to work efficiently in the industry is sufficiently imparted by the course curriculum.

Internships Opportunities

There is nothing like internship in this course only. A well equipped Ship-in-campus is provided for all the practical training. Rest all of the learning is done onboard a ship when one joins first as a traine.

Placement Experience

3

Placements are all right for those who are willing to get one. The industry itself faces a recession as of today, still the college manages a 50% placement record.

College Events

3

The college celebrates 15th August and 26th January in a great manner in which students participate for march past. Rest events include festivals like Ganesh Visarjan and Durga Pooja celebrated sometimes where dhol is organised for dance. And on rare occasions freshers, farewell and DJ night. Also college holds an yearly technical seminar named Global Shipping where various dignitaries come as speakers.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is a bit expensive for marine engineering compared to other engineering courses. College fees is about ?1,20,000 per semester and university fees is about ?20,000 annually.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships are given to students with 90% above marks in 12th and 1st attempt all clear with 60% marks in each semester. Also to students belonging to families with low income. All girls have a 50% fee rebate if they continue obtaining 60% in each semester with 1st attempt all clear.

Campus Life

4

Campus life is not fun and enjoyment but restricted liberty days and timings and muster 4 times a day. Gender ratio is 98:2. But instead of all this sports facilities are abundant indoor as well as outdoor including lush green lawns and grounds for cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, lawn tennis, badminton, table tennis, chess, carrom, boxing, rowing, gymnasium, swimming, water polo. All religions are given due respect.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is very simple and easy to understand. Finals end semster exams consist of 80 marks per subject and mid semester exams conducted for 40 marks per subject account for an internal of 20 marks. There are 6 theory and 2 practicals in every seme

Faculty

4

One thing that I find great here is that the marine faculty is very good. It isn't like some other colleges where classes are just for name sake. The faculty takes interest in teaching the subject and are well qualified. All kinds of doubts are welcomed.
