CSE 5 YEARS IS A BETTER CHOICE! But if you're not planning on pursuing higher studies after college, that extra year might feel like a burden. Otherwise, it’s a solid option!

IIT Delhi’s B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing offers a rigorous curriculum that combines challenging mathematics with computer science, perfect for those looking to enter tech or quant fields, alongside excellent placement opportunities with top firms like Google and Jane Street offering huge packages. In contrast, IIIT Delhi’s B.Tech in Computer Science and Social Sciences seems to provide a more interdisciplinary approach, which might be appealing if you’re interested in the intersection of technology and societal issues, but specific data on placements and internships isn't as robust.

Personally, I’d choose IIT Delhi for its strong reputation, rigorous curriculum, and outstanding placement opportunities—especially if you’re passionate about mathematics and tech. If you're more inclined towards blending tech with social sciences, IIIT Delhi could be a great fit, but for high-paying tech roles, IIT Delhi is the clear winner.

IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing clearly offers better placement prospects compared to IIIT Delhi's B.Tech in Computer Science and Social Sciences. With top companies like Microsoft and Google actively recruiting, IIT Delhi boasts an impressive placement rate of around 93%, with the highest packages reaching up to 4 crores from firms like Jane Street. In contrast, while IIIT Delhi has a solid program, its focus on social sciences might limit exposure to high-paying tech roles. For those who love mathematics and seek lucrative career opportunities in quant firms or tech, IIT Delhi is the way to go, while IIIT Delhi might suit those interested in a more interdisciplinary approach.

It really depends on your goals after graduation.

1. If you're focused on landing a job quickly and securing a high-paying role right after graduation, spending an extra year in college might not be worth it. The average salary for Mathematics and Computer Science graduates is quite similar. Nowadays, the top-paying jobs are often in finance and trading companies, which are accessible to Mathematics graduates as well. Tech companies are open to both, but Computer Science graduates may have stronger technical skills. Ultimately, your experience during your undergraduate years—like course projects and internships—will play a significant role.

2. When it comes to academics, the CSE department at IIT Delhi is generally superior to the Mathematics department in several ways, including teaching quality, research opportunities, and course rigor. The subjects do differ slightly; Mathematics focuses more on advanced topics, covering courses like Linear Algebra, Real and Complex Analysis, Financial Mathematics, etc.

So, if job prospects are your main concern and you're eager to start earning, an extra year may not be necessary.

IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing offers a rigorous curriculum that prepares you for high-paying roles in tech and finance, with placement stats showing around 93% and salaries going up to 4 crores, plus scholarships available for those in need. Meanwhile, IIIT Delhi's B.Tech in Computer Science and Social Sciences likely has a less intense workload and might appeal if you’re interested in a broader social context, but specific placement and salary data isn’t as strong. Given the high ROI from IIT Delhi, both in terms of salary potential and rigorous education, I’d recommend it if you’re aiming for the best financial return on your investment. If you prefer a more interdisciplinary approach and less pressure, IIIT Delhi could be a solid choice.
