You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

I would like to emphasise the following three critical factors that I keep connected with within the education sector. Information literacy is the ability to effectively use information resources. I enjoy working towards finding, evaluating, organising, using, and communicating information during notable situations such as problem-solving. In my perspective, school education is very important in order for students to have a quality educational career. Usually, family wealth is a predictor of student’s educational level, and we see a lot of students who do not carry out their education due to a lack of funds. This should not happen, and efforts are to be made towards solving this problem so that there will be equal access to education, which I enjoy working towards. Students need to develop a deeper understanding of their degrees. Teaching them that skill is what keeps me connected with education. We are not just making the students think outside the box, such as by analysing processes and facts, but trying to give them a depth of education to be improved rather than width.

Being the Director of EWCE what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

I strongly believe in the quote “The Price of Freedom is always a responsibility”. If you trust and ensure freedom to colleagues they will come with better performance in the assigned work. We should not interfere too much with the work assigned and make them realize that the institution is bigger than the individual. I am an effective communicator with excellent planning, organizational, and negotiation strengths, as well as the ability to lead, reach consensus, establish goals, and attain results. I am keen on taking up a position that will effectively utilize my experience, knowledge, and skills to assist the business school in achieving its goals. To this end, I am furnishing below the details of my candidature.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

I welcome all students to East West College of Engineering. The main aim of every educational institution would be ‘to convert the mind into a living fountain and not a reservoir. That which is filled by pumping in will be emptied by pumping out’. A teacher affects eternity; he or she can never tell where his or her learning stops. Thus, the mediocre teacher tells, the good teacher explains, the superior teacher demonstrates, and the great teacher inspires. Education in the widest sense includes everything that exerts formative influence and causes a young person to be what he is at a given point. Educational institutions should not be simply ‘information supermarkets’; instead they should shape and mould human beings.
