What is the latest program that you are offering in your institute/dept. which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd?

We offer numerous programmes and courses at AISAT College of Engineering. Recently, we have started offering a B.Tech. degree in the Electronics and Communication Engineering specialisation. The four-year-long programme covers the latest knowledge and skills in the electronics and communication industry. Students also go through internships and industry visits to supplement their regular classroom knowledge.

What are the factors that make this program the best for the students to opt?

By selecting the Electronics and Communication Engineering course at the Albertian Institute of Science and Technology, students can either work in the software industry or at core engineering companies. Our students will also be eligible to work in the fields of robotics, embedded systems, VLSI design, semiconductor electronics, communication, etc. Our department provides necessary student development programs in various fields as well to help improve the skills of the students.

What will you say are the “best practices” in the course you’re offering?

We have numerous best practices at our college. However, for the new course we offer, we have experiential learning in the classroom. Along with the theoretical sessions, there is a practical demonstration of the topics and a practical session at the laboratories. Students are also encouraged to take up internships to practice their skills, to know what the industry demands of them and to take part in projects. This makes our students highly employable after graduation.

What are some valuable insights of the program that you are offering at your institute/dept.?

We keep on updating our courses as per the new technologies launched in the industry. We also provide training programs and hands-on workshops for students and teachers alike that are relevant to our course. Students get to interact with experts from the industry and network through internships and attending conferences and workshops.

How did you train yourself/faculty to deliver this program to the students?

Our faculty gets trained through faculty development programs and industrial interactions. They are motivated to keep updating their skills. Our teachers regularly attend conferences, and workshops, complete domain specific MOOC courses, and take part in industry visits, etc. Many teachers are PhD holders and others actively take part in research.

How do you tend to build an industry connected with this program?

The department has identified some thrust areas to build a connection with the program and industry. According to the identified areas, we are finding industries to collaborate and connect with. We have established the following initiatives consequently, promoting students to establish their start-ups, establishing an industry incubation centre and inviting industry people to academic council meetings.

What are the types of projects that the students are working on through this program?

Our students choose projects based on their interests and career goals. We encourage them to pick projects that most resonate with what they wish to do in their careers and that piques their interest. Most do either software or hardware projects. This program can also connect with all other programs and students can opt to do multidisciplinary projects in different areas like Robotics and Automation, Sustainable development etc.

What are the benefits and career options after pursuing this course?

The study of this program involves the design and concepts of the electronic systems used in electronic sectors in various fields. The curriculum of this program includes researching, designing, developing, and testing various electronic systems. After this course, the students can directly enter into a core engineering job or work in any position in the software industry.
